Chapter 277
Reven’s POV
I sat there feeling nervous. I could see the elders talking among themselves in low tones, their faces serious as they argued back and forth.
My eyes flickered to Alpha Ethan. He was sitting so calmly, almost too calmly, like someone who already knew
the outcome.
His fingers were folded on his lap, his jaw tight, and his eyes fixed on the elders‘ door. He didn’t even look at
me once.
My heart kept pounding fast. I didn’t know if it was fear or anger or both.
Derick’s hand rested on mine under the table, squeezing softly to reassure me. But even that wasn’t enough to calm the storm inside my chest.
After what felt like hours, though it was barely thirty minutes, the elders finally walked back into the room.
Their expressions told me everything before they even opened their mouths.
They looked like people who believed they had made the fairest decision in the world. But fair to who? Definitely not to me.
One of the elders stepped forward, clearing his throat.
“We have deliberated over the matter,” he said. “And we will now pass our judgment.”
My fingers tightened around the edge of my chair. Derick sat up straight. Alpha Ethan lifted his chin slightly,
still silent.
The elder continued. “After reviewing all evidence, witnesses, and arguments presented, we declare that the custody of the children will be given to Alpha Ethan.”
For a second, my brain froze. The words didn’t register. They sounded far away, like they were being said under water.
Custody… given… to Alpha Ethan?
I blinked hard. My mouth opened a little, but no sound came out yet.
The elder went on, “Furthermore, if Alpha Derick attempts to harm Alpha Ethan in any way or interferes with the custody arrangement, he will be stripped of his Alpha title and banished from the werewolf clan.
He will live as a rogue permanently.”
My heart didn’t just drop it shattered.
“No!” The scream tore out of me before I could stop it. It burst from my chest so loud the whole room froze

for a moment.
Even Alpha Ethan turned his head slowly to look at me, though his expression didn’t change.

Derick quickly wrapped his arm around me, pulling me close as my chest rose and fell in panic. Tears blurred my vision, but I refused to let them fall yet.
“I’m not taking that judgment,” I said, shaking my head over and over. “Alpha Ethan is not taking my kids away from me.
He can’t take them!”
The elders didn’t speak. Some looked uncomfortable, others looked annoyed. As far as they were concerned, their decision was final.
Derick stood up and held my hands, gently trying to pull me from the room.
“Raven, let’s go,” he whispered. “Please.”
But my legs refused to move at first. My whole body felt like it had turned into stone. It wasn’t until Derick tugged again that I finally stumbled forward, still shaking my head.
We walked out of the council chamber, and the moment we stepped outside, chaos exploded around us.
The media had been waiting. Journalists rushed forward, voices overlapping, cameras flashing in our faces.
“Alpha Derick, how do you feel about losing the case?”
“Why would you want custody of another man’s children?”
“How does it feel knowing Alpha Ethan will take them?”
I saw the anger flare in Derick’s eyes instantly. His jaw clenched hard.
One of the journalists pushed a microphone too close to his face, and without thinking, Derick grabbed it and snapped it in half. Gasps echoed around us.
I held onto his arm as he dragged me through the crowd. Security cleared a path as we hurried toward the car waiting at the curb.
The ride home was quiet. Too quiet. The kind of silence that suffocates. I kept glancing at Derick. He looked broken, the pain raw in his eyes. He kept staring out of the window, his fists clenched on his thighs.
I didn’t even know what to say to him. How was I supposed to comfort someone when I felt like my own world was falling apart?
When we got home, Derick got out of the car immediately. He didn’t wait for me. He didn’t even look at me. He walked straight inside and headed to his room. The moment he reached his door, he tried to shut it, but I pushed my hand against it.
“Derick, please,” I said as I stepped inside.

He stood there with his back turned to me, shoulders stiff.
“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “All this happened because of me.”
His jaw moved, but he didn’t turn around.
