On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 195

“Revenge?” Jessica almost laughed. “First of all, you’re in no position to lecture me. And secondly, if I were truly seeking revenge, you would be the first one on my list.”

Lance looked at her in disbelief. He pointed a trembling finger at the operating room door. “Do you know what Willie will do when he finds out the child he’s waited ten years for has been aborted?”

Jessica tilted her head back, her eyes curving into a smile, but her gaze was pure ice. “And do you know how Lillian felt when she saw the husband she’d loved for a decade in bed with another woman?”

Lance was speechless.

Jessica turned away and sat down on a nearby chair to wait for Lillian. Lillian’s family was all abroad; here, she only had a husband in name and his so-called family. Jessica had to be there for her.

Lance stood over her. “If you don’t tell Willie about this, you will be the traitor of the Brown family.”

Jessica ignored him. She didn’t want to waste another word on him.

“Jessica Brown!” he said, his voice rising as he reached for her arm again.

His wrist was caught in a firm grip. Lance spun around to see Anthony George.

George raised an eyebrow. “Putting your hands on a woman?”

“This is between my wife and me,” Lance snapped, his face hardening. “It’s none of your business.”

Ten minutes later, Willie burst onto the floor, his voice frantic. “Lillian Clark! Where is Lillian Clark?”

Lance came in from the balcony. Willie rushed up to Jessica. “Where is Lillian?”

“In the operating room,” Jessica said, looking at his desperate face. “The baby’s gone. You don’t have a child anymore, Willie. Because you slept with another woman, because you were unfaithful, the child you waited so long for is gone.”

Willie looked like a caged lion, his eyes bloodshot and terrifying. “It was you, Jessica Brown!” he roared. “This was you, wasn’t it?”

“Me?” Jessica asked calmly. “What did I do? Did I force you to sleep with another woman? Did I make you cheat? Those were your decisions. Your betrayal of your marriage led to this. Are you going to blame me for that, too?”
