On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 203

Jessica just smiled, unfazed.

“I know you don’t care about the money,” Lillian pressed, “but you shouldn’t just let it go. The Brown family fortune is substantial. It’s yours by right. Better to donate it to charity than let that woman and her daughter get their hands on it.”

“You should focus on getting better,” Jessica said gently. “Don’t worry about them. People like that eventually destroy themselves.”

Lillian shook her head. “You can’t always rely on fate. The world has changed. The wicked thrive while the good suffer. In this world, the ones who succeed are those without a conscience, the ones who are ruthless.”

Jessica pulled the blanket up higher over Lillian. “Don’t overthink things, Lillian. The most important thing for you right now is to rest.”

Lillian nodded. “It’s so good of you to think of me, to come and visit.”

Jessica smiled and shook her head.

When she left the room and walked into the main office, she found Rebecca Jones pacing, looking like she’d just rushed over. “Which room is Lance Smith in?”

Seeing the fury in Rebecca’s eyes, Jessica quickly intercepted her. “What’s wrong?”

“I need to see him,” Rebecca seethed. “I’m going to ask him why the hell he’s trying to steal the streaming company from us.”

Jessica blinked. “The streaming company? You mean StreamSphere?”

Rebecca nodded, her eyes full of a complicated anger. “I know the vice president there, and the other bidders have been dropping out one by one. I thought it was a sure thing. Then, out of nowhere, Lance decides he wants to get into streaming and drives up the price.”

Jessica took a deep breath. She nodded slowly. “I understand.”

Lance must have found out what she’d used the fifty million for—the money she’d gotten by faking a pregnancy.

Despicable.

His face darkened, a shadow falling over his features. “What do you think you’re doing?”

Jessica got straight to the point. “Why are you trying to buy StreamSphere?”

StreamSphere…

Lance chuckled softly and removed his glasses, leaving faint marks on the bridge of his nose. “What do you think?”

Jessica remained silent.

“You used Lillian Clark’s test results to trick me out of fifty million,” he said. “You were in such a hurry to get that money to buy StreamSphere, weren’t you? Well, if you’re going to play games, you have to be prepared for the consequences.”

His twisted logic almost made her laugh. A dry, humorless sound escaped her lips. “That fifty million was mine to begin with. Who’s the real liar here? You had Aaron James lie and tell me you were having cash flow problems. But the second you heard I was ‘pregnant,’ you sent the money without a second thought for an abortion. You were the one scheming against me from the start.”
