On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 212

“He used to be my right-hand man before you poached him,” Rebecca said with a nod.

Samuel managed a weak smile. “Looks like he was always meant to work for you.”

Rebecca smiled back.

Samuel gestured for them to sit. “Honestly, if it weren’t for some family problems, I would never sell. The company is really taking off. It breaks my heart.”

“I heard a little about it,” Rebecca said apologetically.

“It’s too late for regrets now,” Samuel said with a sigh. “What’s done is done.”

Rebecca wasn’t there to listen to his woes. She looked around the office. “Shall we take a look at the streaming rooms?”

Samuel led the way. “We have one top-tier streamer with over ten million followers,” he explained as they walked. “He’s a food vlogger. A bit eccentric, but easy enough to work with. He doesn’t participate in company events, but he’s our cash cow, so I’ve always treated him well.”

“We don’t have anyone in the five-million-plus range,” he continued, “but we have a few with between one and five million. They’ve been with me since the beginning and are loyal to the company. I’ve given them some shares. We have a lot of smaller streamers, but the turnover rate is high. That’s a problem for the whole industry, not just us. Since I’m handing the company over to you, I want to be upfront about everything so you can be prepared.”

Rebecca nodded.

They walked by several of the streaming rooms.

“Do they stream 24/7?” Jessica asked curiously.

“The big names have set hours,” Samuel explained. “The smaller ones are on for about twenty hours a day, in shifts.”

Jessica nodded, taking it all in.

Three days later, Lance returned from his trip.

Helen called Jessica immediately.

Jessica drove to Lakeview Heights. Lance opened the door, and his hand paused on the doorknob when he saw her. “What are you doing here?”

“Why didn’t you show up to get the divorce certificate?” Jessica demanded. “It would have taken half an hour. Don’t tell me you couldn’t find the time. Lance, what are you playing at?”

“Are you that desperate to be divorced?” he shot back. “So you can run off with that useless bodyguard?”

“This is about you and me,” Jessica said, her voice steady. “No one else is involved. Lance, we are going to the registration office right now.”
