On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 252

As he reached for her, Jessica swung the vase with all her might, smashing it against his head. It shattered on impact, spraying blood. Clutching a jagged piece of porcelain in her hand, she stared him down.

Daniel staggered back, clutching his head. The world swam before his eyes, and Jessica became a blurry, shifting figure. Fumbling with his belt, he lurched towards her again. "I'm sorry..."

He pounced like a wild beast, pinning her beneath him.

A moment later, the door swung open. "Oh my God! Jessica, what are you doing with Daniel...?" Catherine's voice trailed off, leaving just enough to the imagination.

A crowd of onlookers surged into the room, their eyes falling on the scene of Jessica, her clothes disheveled, trapped beneath Daniel. They all assumed the worst.

Mrs. Gates, Daniel's wife, burst in. "Jessica Brown, have you no shame? Are you that desperate for a man that you have to seduce someone else's husband at a wedding? You slut..."

With a final burst of adrenaline, Jessica shoved Daniel off her. He rolled onto the floor, motionless, a deep gash on his neck bleeding profusely. Slowly, Jessica sat up, then got to her feet. The porcelain shard in her hand was slick with blood, which dripped down her arm.

She staggered over to Catherine, raised the shard to her neck, and whispered with a contemptuous smile, "I'll remember this."

Catherine swallowed hard and took a step back.

As Jessica walked out of the room, the crowd parted for her like the Red Sea. In the distance, she saw Lance, a complex expression on his face, holding Amy's hand.

Amy stared at her, silent.

Slowly, Jessica released her daughter's hand. "Fine. Just fine. Amanda Smith, from this moment on, I will pretend I never gave birth to you. I’m not your mother anymore. You've made your choice."

She pushed herself up, swaying on her feet. Lance reached out to steady her, but she brushed his hand away. Just as she reached the bottom of the stairs, police officers burst in and apprehended her. An ambulance crew followed, rushing Daniel to the hospital.

...

At the police station, an officer looked at the silent Jessica. "Tell us what happened. If you're innocent, we'll clear your name. If you're not, you'll face the consequences."
