On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 258

Lance remained silent.

Eugene clinked his glass against Lance's. "You need to be honest with yourself about what you really want." He took a long drink. "Lance, follow your heart. Forget about pride; it's worthless. When you've truly lost what you want, it'll be too late. There are no do-overs in life."

Lance didn't say another word, just kept drinking. Eugene drank with him until Lance was completely drunk. He got him a room at a nearby hotel.

Outside, Eugene pulled out his phone and dialed a number he hadn't used in years.

"Mrs. Smith?" he said when the call connected. "It's Eugene. I'm with Lance; he's had a bit too much to drink. I'll send you the address. Could you come take care of him?"

"We're getting a divorce," Jessica's voice came back, cold as ice. "It has nothing to do with me."

"Mrs. Smith, what if something happens to him?" Eugene pressed, his smile faltering.

"Then I'll be saved the trouble of signing the divorce papers."

Eugene's smile vanished completely. He could hear it in her voice—she was truly done with Lance.

"Alright then," he said softly. "I won't bother you."

"And from now on," she added, "just call me Jessica."

"Okay," he replied.

After hanging up, Eugene sighed and glanced back at the hotel room. Winning her back was going to be a monumental task. A woman like Jessica loved fiercely, but she could also hate for a lifetime. He put his phone away and left.

Arianna, the most outspoken of the three, nodded. "Yes, AuraLive wants to sign us. Honestly, it's a dream come true to work for a company like that. We're really sorry to disappoint you."

"Like you said, people need to pursue better opportunities. We understand," Jessica said. "If you're resigning, we'll follow standard procedure. You won't be able to take your accounts with you."

"What? Why not?" Arianna exclaimed.

Jessica stood up and faced them. "You are undeniably talented, and you're the ones who grew these accounts to over a million followers. However, when you started, you had nothing. The company provided the accounts, bought the traffic, and hired people to boost your engagement. The company invested a lot in building these accounts."

"So you really think you can build up a new account from scratch?" Arianna retorted. "Fine. I don't need the old one. I can get three million followers at AuraLive on my own."

"Good luck," Jessica said with a smile. "What about you two?"
