On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 35

As they approached the hallway, they saw a crowd gathered around the door to one of the private rooms. Lance frowned. He stopped a server who was rushing past.

“What happened?” he asked.

“A few people got hurt bad,” the server said breathlessly. “Being taken to the hospital.”

Just then, the last of the injured was carried out on a stretcher. Lance moved closer and recognized the heavyset man from the hallway. He was covered in blood, unconscious, and mumbling incoherently.

Lance’s face darkened.

“Lance, I’m sure Jessica had nothing to do with this,” Catherine said, trying to soothe him. “Don’t worry.”

Her words had the opposite effect. Lance’s tightly controlled emotions snapped.

“Whether she was involved or not,” he said, his face a grim mask, “it has nothing to do with me.”

He turned and walked away.

“Lance, wait!” Catherine called, hurrying after him. “Are you leaving already? Let me just say goodbye to my friends.”

But in her high heels, she couldn’t keep up. She watched helplessly as he stepped into the elevator, the doors closing in her face. The moment they shut, the gentle expression on her face vanished, replaced by a cold fury.
