Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 127

Christian switched off the stove, plated the dish, and walked over.

The moment Annie saw him, the restless tension in her chest melted, as if it had been softly brushed away.

So this was what coming home felt like—knowing someone was waiting for her filled her with warmth.

"Here. I got it for you." Christian reached over to the sideboard and lifted a small paper bag. Inside was a cup of juice, still warm.

"I passed by the shop on my way back," he said casually. "I thought you might like it."

The warmth seeped from the cup into her palm and slowly sank inward, settling deep in her heart.

She smiled. "I'm not a child. I don't drink juice anymore."

Christian reached out and gently smoothed the stray hair at her forehead. His touch was soft and gentle.

"It's fine," he said, a low laugh slipping out. "When you're with me, you can be as childish as you like."

Annie's heart skipped a beat. She quickly turned her head away, and heat crawled up her cheeks.

He always spoke so casually, yet somehow, everything he said came across as flirtatious.

Christian caught the change in her expression, and his eyes softened even more. He returned to the kitchen and brought out the steak. The rich aroma filled the room at once.

"Alright. Dinner's ready."

Annie looked at the table full of dishes and, out of nowhere, a thought surfaced in her mind.

Perhaps having a husband wasn't such a bad thing.

At least the house no longer felt so empty, and she didn't have to eat cold takeout alone every night.

She set the juice down and stepped forward. "Let me help you with the rest."

Christian stopped her reaching hand. "Wash your hands first."

Annie pursed her lips and muttered under her breath, "Got it, bossy man."

She turned away, clearly displeased, and headed toward the bathroom.

Christian watched her walk off, a soft smile tugging at his lips. He liked her being a little feisty like this. It made the whole place feel warm and lively.

He went back for the last dish. As he set the bowl of soup on the table, his phone screen lit up.
