Sylvara's Rebirth: A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 169

Chapter 169 Agares Shows Up

The gun fired with a sharp, cracking sound that tore through the air.

Finished

The bullet slammed into Zephyrion’s chest, red smoke bursting from his vest as he fell hard to the ground, officially out of the match.

Agares didn’t linger. The moment the shot landed, he slipped back behind the tree, his movements fast and precise.

The senior instructors from the Fifth Military Academy instantly started shouting. “Attention! Eagle in sight! Eagle spotted directly ahead, fifty yards, behind the big tree!”

“Get ready! Eliminate Eagle! Open fire! Prepare for a full-scale sweep!”

The 70-man team from the Fifth Academy, along with nine newly joined fighters, raised their rifles at once. Their eyes locked on their scopes, and the air around them buzzed with electric excitement.

Sylvara, Veyric, Leiya, and their team of thirty didn’t share the same thrill. While the others surged forward, they quietly stepped back, moving in the opposite direction.

The seventy-nine were too worked up to notice. Every single one of them was hungry for glory -ready to be the one who took down the Empire’s Light and claimed the title that would echo across every academy in the Empire.

Within seconds, the two groups drifted apart completely.

Veyric fiddled with his rifle, pretending to check the scope as he muttered under his breath, “Sylvie, you really think we can take down the Commander this time?”

Sylvara lifted her lashes lazily. “We’re in a forest, Veyric. Just because sunlight doesn’t reach the ground doesn’t mean you get to start daydreaming.”

Veyric’s mouth twitched. He went quiet, sulking.

Not even allowed to dream now.

She was the one who said dreams mattered, and now she was shutting him down?

Unbelievable. Total hypocrisy.

Zolensky’s voice cut through the tense quiet. “Why isn’t Mr. Vaelor moving yet? Hiding isn’t his thing!”

“I think he’s already seen us,” Carlos said, his tone sharp and focused. “He’s waiting for us to

make a move first. Should we strike?”

Finished

Sylvara’s eyes narrowed. A thin willow-like branch slipped from her hand, dropping into the thick carpet of leaves on the ground. “Not yet. Wait for Agares to attack first. Then we move.”

The branch slithered soundlessly through the rotting leaves, weaving through dirt and twigs as it crept toward the massive tree hiding Agares.

Agares’ eyes glinted, sharp and cutting. In a flash, he crouched down and caught the creeping branch just before it reached his ankle.

Sylvara’s face went pale as she tried to pull it back.

But Agares yanked hard.

The force jolted her body forward. She twisted fast, letting the branch extend farther until her footing steadied, keeping herself from being dragged closer.

Agares looked down at the branch in his hand, watching it stretch endlessly between them.

Agares shot out from behind the tree in a blur, his movements sharp and fluid like a hawk slicing through the air. He grabbed the vine-like tendril and swung it wide, wrapping it around all 79 soldiers in one swift motion.

The trapped men barely caught sight of him before they panicked and opened fire.

Gunfire erupted through the forest, the deafening shots echoing off the trees as thick red smoke filled the air.

Sylvara gritted her teeth and grabbed the other end of the vine. She glanced at Leiya, fury flashing in her eyes. “Your commander’s a hunting dog.”

Leiya gave a short, dry laugh while raising her knife. “No, he probably thinks you’re the dog. He’s got your leash and he’s about to take you for a walk.”

Sylvara’s face darkened with anger. “He’s the dog! His family tree’s a whole pedigree! That bastard-if I don’t put him down myself, my name is not Sylvara!”

The others burst out laughing and raised their thumbs. “You got fire! We’ll back you up in spirit, but right now, we’re off to help Mr. Vaelor. Time to hit the enemy from inside.”

Sylvara waved them off impatiently, like she was shooing a swarm of flies. “Go, go, go. And don’t forget what you’re fighting for.”

“Never! We won’t!”

All thirty of them-except Veyric-lifted their rifles and aimed at the seventy-nine trapped
