Chapter 171 Boom

The metallic click of the chamber echoed through the silence. Right then, Veyric stepped forward again, shaking from head to toe. His voice quivered as he spoke. “C-Commander, let’s just… talk about this, okay? We’re on the same side. Fighting each other in front of everyone-it’s not really helping, is it?”

“Shut it and let him pull the trigger,” Sylvara barked, her voice fierce and full of challenge. “If he hits me, he wins!”

Veyric looked like he might cry.

Of all possible times, why was Sylvie still mouthing off now?

The gunshot split the air with a fierce, echoing crack.

Agares didn’t hesitate for a second. He squeezed the trigger, firing straight at Sylvara.

Her pupils shrank as the blank round shot toward her.

A smirk curved her lips. Her eyes shimmered like a sea full of stars, alive with mischief. In a heartbeat, a thick green vine erupted from the ground, twisting upward to block the shot.

Bane reacted fast and grabbed Veyric by the arm. “Stay out of it, moron. That’s what happens when killers face off. You’d only make things worse.”

Veyric froze, his jaw dropping as he stared at the giant green vine shielding Sylvara.

That thing hadn’t been there a second ago. It had just burst into existence, huge and alive. How’d that happen? She’s supposed to be powerless!

No way that came from her. If she had that kind of ability, she wouldn’t even talk to a loser like him.

Agares lifted a brow and sidestepped, glancing toward the woman still hanging from the tree. She braced her feet against the massive vine, twisted midair, and landed neatly on a branch.

Then the vines wrapped around her burst into flames.

Agares’s brow furrowed, and a flash of panic crossed his face. He lunged onto the same branch, reaching out to rip the burning vines off her.

But the fire around her twisted violently, morphing into a dragon made of pure flame that lunged straight for his chest.

“Holy hell! What did she do to piss him off? Mr. Vaelor’s lost it!” Leiya yelled. “He’s actually using a fire-type ability on her?”

Zolensky smacked the back of his head hard. “Open your damn eyes. Fire powers? Mr. Vaelor doesn’t even have them!”

Leiya blinked, stunned. “Wait, yeah. If it’s not him, then who started the fire?”

Everyone said it at once. “You’re an idiot.”

Chapter 1/1 Boom

Agares landed on the branch, but the next instant he kicked off, launching himself backward.

The fire dragon grazed his chest and smashed into a nearby tree as thick as a support pillar. The whole trunk went up in flames.

Sylvara’s hands came free. With a quick motion, the huge green vine shrank, twisting into her palm and turning into a whip of fire.

The air cracked as she lashed out, the flaming whip striking down at Agares before he could regain balance.

Her movements were sharp and fierce. The hit landed squarely, slamming into his chest with brutal precision.

His combat suit, built to withstand both heat and cold, ripped apart under the strike. A searing red mark blazed across his chest.

Agares’s face went pale. The branch under his boots snapped, and he dropped fast toward the ground.

Before he could hit, Sylvara sprang forward again, her whip slicing through the air as she struck down at him a second time.

As he fell, Agares raised his hand, forming a massive ball of fire. Sparks crackled in his palm. With a flick of his wrist, he hurled the blazing sphere straight at her.

“Oh my god, Mr. Vaclor’s actually using a lightning-type ability!” Leiya yelled, clutching Zolensky’s arm with one hand and pointing at the blazing fireball with the other. His voice trembled. “Ms. Feywin’s just a girl. What the hell could she have done for him to go that far?”

Carlos rushed over, his lips shaking as he stammered, “Do you guys even remember the last time Mr. Vaelor used lightning?”

The second he said it, thirty painted faces turned toward him at once. Their expressions twisted, the mix of awe and fear almost look grotesque on thier face.

For a long tense moment, no one spoke.

Then Rainy swallowed hard and said, “Six years ago. He went alone into the Swarmborn’s core territory and used lightning there. He hasn’t used it since.”

“So what you’re saying…,” Veyric blurted out, his eyes wide, “is that Feywin’s scarier than the Swarmborn? That’s why Mr. Vaelor’s using lightning again?”

Everyone nodded in perfect sync, their voices deadly serious. “Ms. Feywin’s as terrifying as a top Swarmborn general commanding hundreds of thousands of soldiers.”
