Chapter 177 Fighting the Bear

Sylvara saw him glance her way and pointed behind him. “Your Highness, watch out! The bear’s coming!”

The brown bear, furious from its wound, bellowed in rage. Its massive paw came crashing down toward the man who had struck it.

Agares twisted his body and raised his saber horizontally.

The steel sliced through the air with a violent hiss.

The blade cut the enormous paw clean in half. Then he drew the saber back and slashed again, severing both halves completely from the bear’s arm.

“Wow!” Sylvara shoved her half-finished fruit tea back into her spatial button and let out a squeal, her voice high and thrilled. She clapped, eyes wide with excitement like she was a fan seeing her idol in real life. “Your Highness, that was incredible! You’re amazing, absolutely amazing!”

A streak of green light burst out like it had a mind of its own, shooting forward and coiling around the severed bear paw. It wrapped tight, then yanked the paw back toward Sylvara.

The brown bear went berserk. With a furious roar, it lunged at Agares, swinging its bleeding arm straight at him.

The massive thirty-foot creature towered over him, making Agares look like nothing more than a speck caught in a storm.

He didn’t use his ability. Every move came from sheer physical strength and years of combat instinct. His body twisted and shifted with practiced agility, keeping him just out of the monster’s reach as he met it head-on.

That was when the Hunting Legion’s deputy commanders showed up with Veyric in tow.

But instead of focusing on their Commander, their eyes locked on the small, ferocious woman sitting casually on a fallen giant of a tree.

Sylvara saw them too. Her paint-smeared face split into a bright grin, her expression as lively as sunlight. She waved both hands and called out, “Hey, over here! Sit down!”

Thirty armored men came running like excited, oversized hounds and perched neatly along the huge tree

trunk.

Sylvara rummaged through her spatial button, pulling out an assortment of snacks-one packet for each

man.

Veyric tore open a bag of beef bites and muttered between mouthfuls, “Where the hell did you even get these? They cost a fortune. A pound costs 10 thousand stellar coins.”

Sylvara glanced at the packet. The label bragged that the mutated beef had been soaked in natural veggie juice for three days and nights before it was made.

“My teacher bought them. He knew I’d be sent here for training but didn’t want me starving, so he stocked me up,” she said, pulling out a piece of sugarcane. She sliced it into short sections and bit into one without

hesitation.

It wasn’t a lie. Every snack stuffed into her spatial button had been bought by her teacher, Malcolm. The man had practically filled it to the brim with food.

Veyric chewed and sighed, sounding almost disappointed. “So your teacher bought them. I thought your husband did. He’s rich as hell, right? You don’t even spend his money. What’s the point of him having it?”

Sylvara blinked before smiling faintly. “Even if he’s rich, he worked for it. That’s not easy. Ask these guys- money’s not exactly easy to earn, is it?”

Carlos popped another beef bite into his mouth and pointed toward their Commander, who was still wrestling the bear. “Not for him. Swarmborn are ranked by threat level. The stronger the target, the higher the bounty.”

“Our Commander’s killed so many Swarmborn that there are more zeroes in his account than anyone could count. Ms. Feywin, your husband must be just as rich. I bet he’s one hell of a Swarmborn hunter too.”

Sylvara caught the undertone instantly. Carlos wasn’t just making conversation. He was fishing-trying to piece together who her husband was.

If the Hunting Legion really earned bonuses for each Swarmborn kill, then knowing her rough net worth would be enough to trace the man behind her.

They looked like simple brutes, but they were sharp-clever enough to pry for information under layers of

small talk.

“My husband’s got plenty of money,” Sylvara said smoothly, her tone casual but vague. “His family’s always had a strong foundation. The Swarmborn bounties just add to it.” She quickly changed the subject before they could dig deeper. “So, why isn’t Mr. Vaelor using his ability to fight that thing?”

Zolensky chewed slowly before answering. “Oh, that? It’s not that he won’t. He’s just testing his limits. He always says when your mental energy runs dry, all you’ve got left is your body.

“That’s why he barely lets us use our mental energy in training. He makes us rely purely on strength and endurance.”

Wow.
