**TITLE: The Third Signature by Mark Twain**
**Chapter 20: Mr. Vaelor Wants to See You**
In a world where the boundaries of space and time had blurred, Sylvara found herself crouched low among the vibrant foliage of the rainbow pepper plants. These peculiar plants, reminiscent of the pepper trees of old Earth, towered above her, their colorful fruits glistening under the artificial sunlight of the Interstellar Era. Each plant stood proudly, reaching heights that surpassed the waist of an average person, creating a kaleidoscope of colors that danced in the air.
With a swift motion, Sylvara slipped out of sight, her heart racing as she maneuvered through the lush greenery. Outside, Veyric stood anxiously, his gaze darting between the pepper plants and the horizon. He couldn’t shake the worry that she might consume another of those tantalizingly bright red peppers—a thought that sent a shiver down his spine. In his hand, he held a pear, its smooth surface cool against his palm, and he contemplated offering it to her. But just as he gathered the courage to approach, Drenvar appeared, seizing his attention with an urgency that was hard to ignore.
“Hey! I’ve been searching high and low for you,” Drenvar exclaimed, his voice brimming with excitement. “You’ve got to come with me, now!”
Veyric froze, confusion washing over him. “Come with you? Where on earth are we going?” he asked, his mind racing with possibilities.
Drenvar’s grin stretched wide, illuminating his face. “You’re in luck! Mr. Vaelor is here, and he specifically wants to see you,” he declared, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
The news hit Veyric like a bolt of lightning, leaving him momentarily speechless. His mind struggled to process the magnitude of Drenvar’s words.
“Are you serious? Mr. Vaelor is here? He wants to see me?” Veyric finally managed to stammer, his voice rising in pitch with disbelief.
Drenvar chuckled, giving him a gentle nudge to bring him back to reality. “Of course it’s true! Why would I make something like that up? Now hurry—don’t keep Mr. Vaelor waiting!”
Overcome with excitement, Veyric leapt into the air, practically bouncing on his toes. “This is unbelievable! I can’t believe I’m going to meet him!” His admiration for Agares, the illustrious figure he idolized, surged within him, fueling his eagerness.
As they hurried away, Sylvara, still crouched beneath the rainbow pepper plants, caught a glimpse of Veyric’s animated departure. A pang of frustration flickered in her heart. Her husband, instead of taking up arms to protect their homeland, was swept away by the allure of the military academy, all because of a mere mutated three-headed dog.
