Sylvara's Rebirth: A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 21

**Chapter 21: A Pretty Guy**

“As your cousin, I already have a considerable debt to your family,” Sylvara began, her voice steady but laced with concern. “I won’t allow you to tarnish your reputation by taking on the mascot fruit. That responsibility falls squarely on my shoulders. You should be focusing on becoming the freshman chief of the Healing Department instead.”

Around them, a small group of students exchanged glances, their eyes glinting with understanding. The atmosphere buzzed with the unspoken question that hung in the air like a heavy fog: how could someone with such a lack of mental energy and only H-grade physical power possibly be admitted to the prestigious Fifth Military Academy?

The answer became painfully clear—it was all about noble privilege.

This girl, with her deficiency in mental energy and H-grade physical prowess, was not just unfortunate; she was utterly pitiable. Living under the roof of others, she was compelled to obey their every whim, trapped in a life where her own opinions and desires were drowned out by the demands of those around her.

“You … ” Miralys exploded, her voice rising in anger as she hurled a bright red pepper towards Sylvara, her frustration boiling over. “You’re spouting nonsense! You picked that up yourself! This is not my fault! I never even thought about being chief of the Healing Department!”

The rainbow pepper was light, and Sylvara barely flinched as it grazed her.

She yelped, her voice tinged with indignation. “Miralys, that stings! You know I lack mental energy, and my physical power is weak. How could you possibly wrap mental energy around that mascot fruit and throw it at me?”

If the fear of being whisked away for lab tests hadn’t loomed over her, Sylvara would have dropped the pretense entirely.

But she had a plan. She needed to find a way to get close to Agares, and quickly.

Why, despite their marriage registration, was her aunt so insistent on pushing her toward the military academy? It made no sense.

For now, her priority was to remain near Agares. With his protection, she could easily push people like Miralys aside, ensuring they wouldn’t dare to rise again.

“You’re accusing me… I didn’t … ” Miralys stammered, her voice quaking with disbelief.

“You didn’t what? What exactly am I accusing you of?” Sylvara retorted, rolling up her sleeve in one swift motion. A vivid red mark was now visible on her arm, a clear testament to the encounter with the rainbow pepper. “Didn’t you throw this? Did I inflict this injury upon myself?”

The surrounding students—both seniors and newcomers—could see the mark left by the mascot fruit on Sylvara’s arm, and murmurs began to ripple through the crowd.

“Does she even dare to call herself noble? Is this how nobles act?”

“So this is what it means to be noble? She can’t even tolerate her own cousin.”

“How cruel and heartless! How could she target someone so defenseless?”

“The Fifth Military Academy is declining, especially with these so-called nobles. They’re insufferable.”

Miralys had always been the pampered one, sheltered from harsh words and criticism. Never before had she faced such a brutal onslaught of insults.

Fury coursed through her, but she was acutely aware that, in this moment, the “weak” Sylvara had the upper hand. The more vulnerable Sylvara appeared, the more the crowd rallied behind her.

Unable to retaliate directly, Miralys glared at Sylvara, her voice dripping with venom. “You know exactly what you did. If you keep acting ungrateful, don’t come crying to me when others start picking on you.”
