Sylvara's Rebirth: A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 26

**Chapter 26: The Transaction Alert**

A cacophony of youthful voices swirled around him, each one an echo of excitement and ambition, rising and falling like waves crashing against the shore.

Agares stepped through the imposing gates of the Fifth Military Academy, the sounds of enthusiasm enveloping him. The air was charged with energy, filled with the chatter of students who were eager to make their mark in the world.

As he settled into the cockpit of his aircraft, a soft chime broke through the din of his thoughts. It was his optical computer, delivering a message that sent a jolt through him. “Greetings, esteemed Imperial Bank user. Your wife has successfully processed fees at the Fifth Military Academy. A total of 620,000 stellar coins has been deducted from your account—500,000 for tuition and 120,000 for housing.”

Auren and Carlos exchanged horrified glances, their expressions akin to those who had just encountered a mythical beast.

What had they just heard?

The commander’s wife had enrolled in the very academy they were in, and the staggering sum of 620,000 stellar coins had been charged to their commander’s account.

But hadn’t the commander just tasked Drenvar with locating her?

What had Drenvar said?

“No such person exists!”

Auren’s heart sank as he contemplated the implications. His former chief in the Education Office had clearly not trained hard enough in the art of honesty. The audacity to deceive their commander was a grave misstep, one that would surely lead to repercussions.

Carlos couldn’t help but notice the way the commander stared at the optical computer on his wrist, his face a mask of inscrutable emotion. He was seated in the aircraft, yet he had forgotten to pull his long legs inside, a testament to his distraction.

Despite the looming threat of punishment upon their return to Kolar planet, Carlos’s curiosity got the better of him. He ventured a timid question, “Mr. Vaelor, you haven’t met your wife yet, have you?”

“Mr. Vaelor, is Sylvara Mordrel your wife?” Auren interjected cautiously. He had once received kindness from Drenvar, and as the chief of the Healing Department at the Fifth Military Academy, he felt a duty to protect the institution from the commander’s wrath. “Perhaps when you asked Mr. Stone earlier, your wife hadn’t registered yet. Now that she has, we can definitely find her. What do you say we go back and check?”

Agares’s gaze remained fixed on the optical computer. He wrestled with the notion of privacy, reluctant to expose his wife’s personal information to the prying eyes of others.

He considered the future,

the potential divorce looming over them, and the impact it would have on her life. He wanted her to remain unscathed, to receive a fair alimony payment of one-third of his wealth, without the shadows of their separation following her.

Now, however, both his healer and his adjutant were privy to this delicate situation.

If he were to return and make a spectacle of searching for her, it would undoubtedly draw attention, potentially revealing her personal details to those who had no business knowing.

Once they separated, the fallout could be devastating for her.

With a heavy heart, Agares issued the command. “Return to Kolar planet.”
