Sylvara's Rebirth: A New Dawn for Abel novel Chapter 32

**Chapter 32: What She Can’t Say**

Agares was no fool; he had not fallen prey to Sylvara’s charms. The very thought that she was his so-called bargain-bin wife made his skin crawl. If he ever discovered the truth, he would drag her straight to the divorce office without a second thought. In fact, he’d probably be relieved if someone else wanted to take her off his hands altogether.

So, no, shouting “Honey, hit him!” was out of the question.

Zephyrion, observing Sylvara’s silence, felt a twinge of disappointment wash over him, but then his spirits lifted. A glimmer of hope sparked in his eyes as he pressed forward. “Sylvara, I swear before Mr. Vaelor right now that I will never stand in the way of your dreams at the military academy. I will respect every decision you make. Even if we end up having a child after visiting the breeding center, I will shoulder the responsibility. You won’t have to face this alone.”

Sylvara’s gaze hardened, her spine straightening as she lifted her chin defiantly. “You’ve got some nerve,” she retorted, her voice cold and laced with a sharp chill. “I told you, I am legally married. My husband is a true soldier—someone who stands tall and carries the weight of the sky.”

The atmosphere shifted, and Zephyrion felt the sting of public humiliation.

His expression twisted in disbelief. “You’re lying! You said your husband is in the Hunting Legion. Mr. Vaelor is right here. Go on, tell us who he is. Let’s see if your husband even knows the man!”

Her husband…

Was indeed with the Hunting Legion?

Agares’s fingers curled into fists, his dark eyes narrowing as the implications sank in.

Which scoundrel in the Hunting Legion had the audacity to register a marriage through the Starnet while deployed on the front lines—with a girl who had just reached adulthood?

Sylvara let out a short, humorless laugh, more vexed than amused. “And what business is it of yours whom I married? Do you think you have the right to question me? You want His Highness Agares to verify it for you? You? You’re not even worth my time. If memory serves me right, under Troya Empire law—just like Hesperia from ancient Earth—military marriages are protected by legislation.”

“Indeed,” Agares interjected, his demeanor cool and impenetrable. He absorbed her words with unwavering focus. “According to Troya Empire law, if someone’s spouse is a soldier on active duty, and anyone makes unwelcome advances during their deployment—once verified, the offender will lose their civil liberties for life and be exiled to a desolate planet. You, sir, are now in violation of that law. The Hunting Legion comprises over two hundred thousand soldiers, all engaged in active combat. Their marriages are safeguarded by military law. Ms. Feywin has every right to pursue charges—both civil and military. And I, Agares, on behalf of all two hundred thousand soldiers of the Hunting Legion, can also file suit against you to defend the rights of our personnel.”

As the realization dawned on Zephyrion that Agares was siding with Sylvara, a chill crept down his spine. Agares was infamous for his fierce protectiveness, especially toward the members of the Hunting Legion. His principle was simple: never abandon a single soldier in the Hunting Legion.

Ten years ago, the Hunting Legion had been ordered to hold the line against the Swarmborn. In the chaos of battle, several soldiers had been captured.

Everyone assumed they were either dead or, worse, assimilated into the enemy ranks.

But Agares had not seen their bodies. So, he had gone after them alone, piloting his mech deep into enemy territory to confront the Swarmborn.
