**Chapter 52: Spreading it on Starnet**
“Achieve this, and you won’t merely eclipse him—you’ll be trampling his reputation into the ground, leaving the entire Empire and the vast star system in fits of laughter at his expense.”
With that thought echoing in his mind, Agares stepped out of the Elder Council chamber, his heart racing with anticipation. However, before he could even reach his aircraft, a member of His Majesty’s royal guard intercepted him with a stern expression. “Your Highness, His Majesty requests your immediate presence. You must return to the palace,” the guard stated, his voice firm yet respectful.
“Lead the way,” Agares replied, his tone steady and impenetrable, masking the whirlwind of thoughts swirling in his mind.
The guard executed a crisp salute. “Yes, sir.” He turned on his heel and boarded his own aircraft, clearly instructed to ensure that Agares did not make a hasty retreat back to Kolar planet after the council meeting.
As Agares stepped into his own sleek aircraft, his eyes fell upon a box resting on the seat—its size neither imposing nor insignificant. He found himself momentarily entranced by it, but his curiosity was interrupted when Carlos, his co-pilot, turned around, urgency flashing in his eyes.
“Mr. Vaelor,” Carlos began, his voice tinged with excitement, “about an hour ago, the Level-7 Plant Healer made a post on Starnet. She announced that in three days, she will begin selling lemons that can repair genetic breakdown by restoring mental energy.”
Agares shifted his focus from the box, intrigued. “Did she mention how many lemons she has available?”
Carlos replied, “The listing states one thousand. I suspect she genuinely has that many. But there’s more… Starnet is already buzzing with new recipes and ways to consume lemons.”
Agares frowned slightly, his mind racing. Feywin had previously mentioned that mixing lemons with honey could reduce acidity. Now, there were new culinary creations? “What kinds of recipes are we talking about?”
“Lemon chicken,” Carlos said, his enthusiasm palpable. “It’s a blend of lemons, the bright red mascot fruit from the Fifth Military Academy, and chicken. Apparently, someone from the academy—a student or an officer—came up with it. The recipe was streamed live on Starnet, and the Level-7 Plant Healer gave her stamp of approval.”
Carlos’s eyes sparkled as he recalled the livestream. He had only caught a glimpse of a single screenshot floating around Starnet, yet it had been enough to make his mouth water. He regretted not being one of the fortunate few who had tasted the lemon chicken firsthand.
Agares tapped his fingers rhythmically against his thigh, deep in thought. The Level-7 Plant Healer was somewhere on the Fifth Sector planet, blending in with the masses. Selling lemons in just three days indicated that she was acutely aware of the risk of her identity being unveiled. To safeguard her freedom, she was cleverly using Starnet to instill hope in the public regarding the possibility of repairing genetic breakdown.
If the public held onto that hope, any attempt to arrest her would likely spark outrage. It was a shrewd maneuver on her part.
Raising his wrist, Agares activated his optical computer and promptly posted the complete record of the day’s tri-council meeting to Starnet. The subject was straightforward yet significant: Should the Empire pursue the identity of the Level-7 Plant Healer?
He also included the sentiments expressed by the Elder Council and Assembly—should the Level-7 Plant Healer resist their inquiries, they were prepared to deploy military force to “take her down.”
