Alfreds POV

We were sleeping peacefully on the floor when there was banging at the front door. I got up and went and unlocked the door. It was Chris.

“What are you still doing here? I thought I sent you to the Swamp Lands for a bit.”

“Alpha, the warehouse is on fire.”

“I’ll be right there.”

I did not have time to tell Vanessa what was going on. I mind–linked my mother to stay with her. It would take her a few minutes to come from her cottage, but I was certain that Vanessa would be OK. I then left and went to help with the fire. We had put the fire out, and nothing was majorly lost. Whoever sat the fire needed lessons in arson because they sucked at it. When I walked back to the house, the front door was ajar. When I walked in, my mother was on the floor with a silver knife in her side. I rushed over to her.

“Mother, what happened? We were attacked by that big wolf that was here the other day.”

“Chris, get her to the doctor.”

She did not have to say anymore. I shifted to wolf form. I could still smell Vanessa’s scent. They had not been gone long. When I followed her scent, I could hear her screaming. She was intentionally dragging her feet. She was putting up a fight. That’s my good girl. When I came around a corner, she was on the ground fighting one of those animals off her. She was fighting pretty hard. He then hit her, which made my blood boil. There was blood coming from her lip. He had hit her pretty hard. I was on him, and the other one jumped on me. I was fighting both of them.

I could hear Vanessa scream, and then her wolf was there. She fought hard as well. She yelped, which made Leon’s eyes go red. He took his huge paw and crushed the wolf’s throat. Sasha had the other one pinned down. She had her teeth in his neck. One hard jerk would kill him. I quickly shifted back to human form and stopped her. I started to pet her.

“Sasha, we need this one alive.”

I know you’re mad that he hurt Vanessa, and he was trying to hurt you, but we need him.”

She let go of his throat. She then shifted back to human form. Vanessa collapsed into my arms, and some warriors came and took him away. I carried my beautiful Luna to the hospital. I was going to have her thoroughly checked. She had some scratches and a cut on her lip, but for the most part, she was OK. She was shaken up but was OK. I was impressed that she fought so hard. She was nothing like the girl that I found tied up in the woods. She has learned to fight back and not be hurt. I was impressed. I was also impressed she is growing so strong. I’m so proud of her.

She is so much stronger. She had fallen asleep. The doctor pulled me aside.

“Alfred, she is going to be fine.”

She is just tired, but there was no reaction to her shifting.”

I was pleased to hear that. At least that danger has passed. I then went to my mother’s room to check on her. When I walked into the room, my father was there. For an old man, when he is in his wolf form, he can move pretty fast.

‘Hey, son, how is your Luna.”

“She is fine.”

How is my mother and your Luna doing.”

She is going to be fine.”

“The knife missed something majorly.”

She is getting blood, and then she will need rest.”

“Alright, keep me updated.”

I then left the room and headed straight for the jail. I already knew it was a warrior from the Winterlands pack. I did need to know who sent him and why he was there. I needed to know why the alpha was so interested in Vanessa. She was a runt that was cursed, and now she was the white wolf, and she had no special powers that I was aware of. There is more that I need to know. If he does not tell me, I’m going to the prophet and deal with

him because he has not told me everything. There is more that I need to know. If

everything has transpired, then she has fulfilled the prophecy.

I know there is more to this than I’m being told. When I got there, the mutt that had been picked up was locked in a cell. He was chained to the wall.

I know who sent you and why you are here.”

“What I don’t know is why you keep coming after her.”

“What is the prophecy?”

“Were you not told anything, you dumb idiot?”

I was not told about anything. Does she possess some power that I’m unaware of? Things are not making sense. I’m thoroughly confused about everything.

“What do you know?”

“That your precious mute has powers that she doesn’t even know about.”

“What powers.”

He smiled and pretended to be silent. I was not going to allow that. I slapped him across the face because if I punched him, it would have broken his jaw.

“Not going to say.”

This clown was starting to get on my nerves. He was acting like a child, and he needed to answer my questions.

You will answer me.”

“I will not.”

At that moment, I lost control of my emotions and started to beat him. I punched him several times. First in the jaw, then in the stomach several times. The whole time, he was

laughing, acting like it didn’t hurt. He had blood dripping out of his mouth, and he was still laughing. I was losing my patience with him. I went to hit him again, and Chris stopped me.

Alpha got to talk to the prophet, and I will deal with him.”

We need him alive.”

He was right. If I had continued to hit him, he would have died. The fact that he had blood pouring from his mouth told me that there was internal bleeding already. I left him with Chris. Because I knew Chris would get the information out of him. He would also make sure he survived until we got the answer we needed. I then left and headed toward the prophet’s house. He was sitting outside.

“No more games, old man; I need to know everything.”

She does not know it.”

That’s what I figured: she has no idea of the power she has.

He knows she has power but does not know what it is. She can be dangerous in the wrong hands.
