The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Vanessa POV

After being locked in the room, I hid under the bed to the best of my ability. I would not

make it easy for anyone to take me from Alfred. I grabbed a metal pole that was on the

floor. I picked it up and held it. I could hear all the commotion outside. I knew who it was.

It was Robert, the Alpha of the Winterlands Pack. My father had promised me to him. My

clan’s warriors were fighting with him. He wanted what was pledged to him. He was

ruthless and mean. I had heard that he had killed his first mate. I did not want to be married to him. He liked young women, and if they were virgins, the better.

I also heard that he shares his mates with other alphas. I did not know if that was true or not. It was a rumor. I was lost in my thoughts when the door slowly opened. The lighting in this room was not great, and at first, I could not make out who came through the door. When he got close, I swung the pole and hit him in the stomach. When he shouted that it was Alfred, I was terrified that he was going to beat me for hitting him. To my surprise, he said that would never happen to me again. We were hugging when he started to tighten his grip. It felt like he was going to squeeze me to death.

He let go of me. I backed away from him. When he apologized, I knew that he was sorry. He explained to me that he was angry at someone else. I believed he was upset about everything he had discovered today. He then slowly started to walk towards me, and he was holding his hand out to me. I took it, and he pulled me close to him. After, he pulled me close to him. He kissed me first. I did not return the kiss. But after a minute, I returned it. I then wrapped my arms around his neck. While he kissed me, he picked me up. We then stopped kissing. I felt safe again. He was very gentle.

When we walked out of the hospital, I could see all the blood. I turned my head and buried it in his chest. I did not want to see it. He then whispered in my ear.

It’s OK, baby, you are safe.

I kept my head buried in his chest until we got into the van. He sat down in a seat, and I

sat sideways on his lap. There were pillows in the next seat. He explained that they were

there for me to rest against while we traveled to his land. He said it would only be a few

hours, but I could if I wanted to nap. That sounded good. I turned around with my back to him. I put a couple of pillows behind my back. They were against him. Everywhere he touched me, it was sending sparks all over my body. I needed a break from that for a

moment.

I made sure the pillows were positioned to allow room for him to reach around me and

hold me if he wanted to. I was in pain, but it was not too bad. But maybe I have grown used to pain, which is not a good thing. Nobody should get used to pain. I leaned against

the pillows and got comfortable. It was a twohour drive to where we were going. He had his hand on the headrest of the seat. It was OK that he did not touch me. It gave me time

to relax and get comfortable.

The sparks that happened all over my body when he touched me made it hard to breathe or relax. I was watching the trees go by out of the window and must have fallen asleep. When I woke up again, I was being carried into a house. I started to panic and kick and squirm. I had forgotten where I was sleeping.

Slow down there, baby.

When he spoke, I knew it was Alfred. I stopped trying to get out of his arms. When we got inside, he gently sat me down on a couch. He helped me get situated, then he disappeared into another room. I looked around the room I was in. It was the Alpha’s house. I could tell because of the pictures on the walls. It looked like Alphas that had been before him. The walls were pretty blue. You could tell it had a woman’s touch. I could not tell if a woman still lived here or not. I was admiring my surroundings when a woman came into the living room.

You must be our new Luna.

It’s a pleasure to meet you.

I don’t know if she was waiting for a reply. But I could not find my dryerase board. I was desperately looking for it.

Hey, Stacey.

Alfred greeted her. She ran up to him and hugged him. I did not know who this woman was, but seeing her hug him made me jealous.

*Stacey, this is Vanessa, my mate and our new Luna.

I said hi to her, but she did not respond.

That is because she is mute.

The girl shrugged her shoulders and ran to me and hugged me. I was expecting her to make fun of me or be mean, but instead, she hugged me.

Oh, that is fine.”

I looked from him to her. Who was this person? How could she be so casual with the

Alpha of the pack?

Vanessa, this is my sister Stacey.

I let out the breath I was holding. I thought she may have been a girl he was dating and did not want to tell me about it. All the things that go through a woman’s head. I was so lost in my thoughts about being a silly woman that I did not notice more people coming into the house. When I finally realized the house was filling up with people, I started to get scared. I jumped up from the couch, ran into the nearest bedroom, shut the door, and locked it. I then found a corner in the closet.

It wasn’t long before there was complete silence on the other side of the bedroom door. I knew that eventually I would be found. I am always seen, but I will stay in the closet for as long as possible. I then heard the door open. The e was light coming through the open door. I then heard footsteps.
