The Alpha Of The Shadow Pack And His Mute Luna (by Beatrice Putnam) novel Chapter 96

Chapter 96

Vanessa POV

After taking a lukewarm bath, Alfred carried me to bed. I was so exhausted that I fell asleep almost immediately. It didn’t last; I woke up to Alfred sitting on the edge of the bed. He had a lot on his mind. He had blocked me from reading his mind, which I hate. Still, I know he has good reasons for it. But I can’t help itI still hate it when he does that. I wanted to go to him, to comfort him, but he looked so deep in thought. I lay there for a few minutes. Then I sat up and crawled behind him. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him on the head.

Thank you, little one.

Why is he thanking me? It’s my job to comfort him. He held my hands in place and leaned his cheek into my arms. We sat there for a while. He then crawled into bed with me. We held each other for most of the night. When I woke up, he was still in bed and I was still lying on his chest. He still had his arm wrapped around me. He was awake, just staring at

  1. me.

Hey, beautiful.

Hey, yourself.

He then hugged me while we were lying down. He kissed the top of my head.

I have work to do today.

I will be back later.

With that, he got out of bed and took a shower. Afterward, he dressed, kissed me one more time, and left the room. I stayed in bed for a while. When I sat up, I suddenly had to throw up. I ran to the bathroom, feeling like I would never stop. But when I finished, I brushed my teeth and made my way to the dining hall. Despite throwing up, I was starving. The table was full of food as usual. What really caught my eye were the pancakes -they smelled so good. I took one, added some bacon, and sat down to eat. Then I had seconds.

I knew it was because I’m pregnant that I’m eating so much. Today, I have to undergo an ultrasound to determine exactly how far along I amand possibly find out if it’s a boy or

a girl. Honestly, I don’t care which. If it’s a girl, she won’t be cursed. My curse ended with me. When Alfred said he loved me and marked me, I realized his curse was a generational

one. I can’t wait until we find Tyler and put an end to this nonsense. Now, it could affect my baby, and that’s something I can’t allow.

Those are harsh words from a mother. But it’s the truth. Even if it kills me, I’ll break the curse so it doesn’t touch my baby. My mother never protected me. I will defend all my children, no matter the circumstances.

I knew Alfred and the doctor were concerned that I might have issues with the pregnancy, but that’s life. I know I’m not one hundred percent healthy to be carrying a baby. Still, I refuse to get an abortion or do anything to lose this baby intentionally. I know shifting entirely is out of the question, but that’s fineSasha agrees. I’ll do everything the doctor says. If he tells me to stay in bed, I will. These thoughts swirled in my mind, so I needed to clear my head. I went to our room for shoes and a light jacket.

I decided to walk around the track and get some exercise before my appointment. As I started my walk around the track, I saw Alfred on the field, and he was sparring with another warrior. I walked over to the bleachers and sat down. Stacey saw me and came

over.

Luna, shouldn’t you be resting?

I’m not that far along.

I know, but if I did not remind you, my brother will make me run laps all day.

Tell him you reminded me.

She then went back to lifting heavy weights on the field. I watched Alfred kick, punch, and throw whoever he was working with. He then looked over and saw me. His expression told me that he was not happy that I was out there and not escorted. He walked over to

  1. me.

Little one, what are you doing?

I explained to him that I wanted to walk around the track and get some exercise.

Where is your escort?

Truthfully, I did not know where they were. I had no idea Alfred had assigned people to follow me around all day. I knew he was doing it to protect me. However, I left before they could arrive at the house. He must have mindlinked them because when I looked over his shoulder, six giant warriors came running.

I told you to watch her and protect her.

He was starting to yell and scream at them. I gently put my hand on his shoulder and told him to calm down.

The Luna was not in the house when we arrived; we assumed that she was with you.

He started to yell at them. Again, I placed my hand on his shoulder. He calmed down instantly. They explained that I was gone before they went to the house. I agreed with them. Each of them bowed their heads toward me and then surrounded me on both sides. Alfred went back to exercising. But he was more aggressive than before. I knew he was angry, but that was something to deal with later. It was not the warrior’s fault that I was gone before they got to the house. I did not even know that I needed to wait for an escort. He did not tell me anything. I will discuss it with him later. I knew that he was worried that something bad could happen, but he needed to learn how to give people a break now and again.

I assured them I’d take care of the issue. Each one thanked me. I turned to them and asked if they’d walk the track with me. I loved how they spraypainted the grass. It looked just like a football field; every werewolf plays sports in their human form. They were happy to walk with me. Alfred kept a careful eye on me. I tripped over my shoelace and fell. He was by my side in seconds. He picked me up and rushed me back to the house. The doctor was waiting. He checked my heart rate, my ankle, and the baby. Everything was fine. Alfred then got me a drink.

I lay in bed and waited for him to bring back my drink. When he walked into the room, he had a concerned look on his face.

Little one, you need to be careful.

* I know I just tripped, and I landed on my knee.

It was the truth that I landed on my knee. One of the bodyguards had stopped me from
