Chapter 13
Tristian
“Dad?” My Beta and Dahlia’s father, Phil, is standing there with a grim look on his face. “What’s wrong? Did something happen to Mom?” She asks worriedly.
Phil shakes his head and rubs his head as if he has a headache. “No… it’s not your mother. It’s Daisy.” Dahlia frowns as do I. What’s wrong with her now? “She attempted suicide this morning.”
My heart stops and I feel the world start to spin around me. “What?!” Dahlia’s eyes go wide. “Why?! She tried to kill herself?!” Her hands are trembling and while her voice sounds outraged, her expression shows her shock and horror.
Phil’s voice sounds so far away, but I can still hear him as I stand still like a statue. “Her friend, Samuel came to this morning to check on her. I didn’t even know she was home. He went upstairs so suddenly pushing me aside I followed him ready to punish him… but then I smelled her blood. Samuel broke down the door and…”
Phil trails off and grimaces. “I haven’t seen so much blood in so long… not since Jess gave birth… she was in the tub… naked and so pale…” He never loved Daisy, everyone knows this fact, but for him to be reacting like this means it was really bad.
“Samuel took her away to the pack doctor… but she was barely breathing. I don’t think she’s going to make it…” Phil finishes. Dahlia is trembling next to me while I stand there shell shocked.
Never did I think Daisy would do anything like this. I saw her as a coward, pale and simple. Who isn’t afraid of getting hurt? Everyone avoids it when necessary. Was she so used to pain that it didn’t matter?
Before I realize it, I push past Phil and take off. “Alpha!” “Tristian!” I hear them call out to me, but I don’t look back. This has to be a sick joke or a bad dream!
I hear them following behind me, but I focus on making it to Jim’s voice. I rush inside and the first person I see is Samuel. His shirt is wet and stained with red. The smell of her blood overwhelms my senses and makes me start to sway.
Samuel paces back and forth and clenches his fists. When he sees me, his expression is unread, but when Phil and Dahlia come in, his eyes darken. “What the hell are you bastards doing here?” He asks lowly. Once again, I don’t see a weak Omega in front of me.
Dahlia narrows her eyes. “How dare an Omega like you…!” She doesn’t finish as Samuel steps forward and slaps her hard enough to make her fall on her side. She looks up in stunned silence while he glares down at her.
“Fuck off,” Samuel says darkly. “All of you just fuck off. You drove Daisy to this. And I’ll never forgive you.” His presence reminds me of a strong Beta wolf. “I don’t care who any of you are. I have no family ties to this pack. Everyone reminds me of it all the time. So I honestly don’t give a damn about any of you.”
Samuel was an orphan pup picked up in the woods and raised in our pack. Because he had no family, he was forced to live as an Omega. He never showed any promise until now, but I also never paid any attention to him.
Phil helps Dahlia onto her feet but before they can go after him, I hold up my hand. “Not now… he’s worried and irrational.” Samuel shoots me a look but doesn’t say a word. He has guts for sure.
I go over to the room and knock. I hear Jim snap back a quick reply and figure he thinks he’s speaking to Samuel. My fists tremble but I clear my throat. “It’s me, Jim. What is her status?”
I don’t hear anything for a moment but then the door cracks open. Jim looks grim. “It’s not good.” He spots the others and sighs. “She’s lost a lot of blood and her wounds are deep. She…”
Jim continues to speak but I no longer listen when I catch sight of Daisy. I push him aside and walk over to her bed. “Alpha!” I vaguely hear his voice, but all I can do is stare at her limp form on the bed.
Her face is even paler than normal and her hair is wet and flat against his head and face. Her body is covered by blankets and

I can only assume she’s naked underneath, but the wounds on her arms are what I can’t stop looking at.
How could she stand the pain long enough to inflict such wounds on herself? Why did she do this? I hear Silas whimper in my head at the sight of her. Even if I rejected her, she is still his mate.
