The moment I saw Skylar again, everything came back to me. My lost memories I’ve been wanting for so long have returned and to say I’m angry is an understatement. It isn’t only because my pup got hurt and I couldn’t punish the one who did it. It’s because I was lied to for nearly three years by a

b’st’rd named Peter.

I used to have a crush on Peter back in the day and even hoped that he would be my mate. He saved me when I needed it the most so I imprinted on him in a way. He didn’t turn out to be my mate but we did date for some time afterwards. I thought I’d be happy with him.

However, it didn’t last. The longer I was with him, the more toxic he got. He never acted that way in front of Ebony of course and she never saw him as a father figure. I thought it would get better but I soon realized why he was acting this way.

I was merely a toy and outlet for him. He had found his mate and while he was devoted to them, he didn’t go after them. Why actually? Because Peter’s mate wasn’t just some random she wolf but was Samuel.

Was he questioning his sexuality? Did he fear Samuel wouldn’t accept him? I had no idea but I promptly ended things with him. It wasn’t pretty but after being used, I ignored him completely.

So why did I have to lose my memories? Why did I fall back into his arms? No more importantly, why did Peter start using me again? He better give me proper answers but I have a feeling it will be more excuses.

I walk inside and dust myself off. After a long run and clearing my head, my rage hasn’t faded one bit. Peter is small fry in comparison to the b*tch who attacked me and harmed the two pups under my care. As I step towards the stairs, a hand grabs my arm. “Zoey wait!”

I snap my head back and see Peter. My rage grows as I yank my arm away. “What do I have to wait for? I know they’re up there! I need to tell them who’s responsible for kidnapped and abusing their pup!”

Peter’s eyes dim. “You do remember…” he hesitates. “Look… Zoey, I’m sorry. I acted on my feelings for Samuel and it backfired on me.” He says with a pathetic look on his face. “He regretted what we did that he wished he could forget it… I was a mess, Zoey! Then you woke up and…”

I can’t help but chuckle making Peter growl in annoyance. “Sounds like you’re making excuses for making me your rebound. Like you marked me knowing I didn’t remember to hurt him. And guess what?” I poke him hard in the chest. “He got you back. He even has a pup with a wonderful young woman. Good for her.”

Peter’s eyes darken and he clenches his fists. Before he can say what he wants to say, chaos starts upstairs. I look up hearing Skylar screaming and then a dark blur rushes past me. Ebony hurried to the room. “S–Sky?” Then she’s gone. As sudden as it started, it calms just as suddenly too.

I let out a sigh of relief. If Ebony can calm Skylar down then she’s needed by his side. I look back at Peter and scowl. “I have more important things to do than fight with you. I don’t have time to hear your excuses.” I hear the door open upstairs but just keep my eye on Peter for now

“Zoey, I…” Peter reaches out to me and I recoil before he can touch me. Pain flashes in his eyes but I dismiss him and look up. I lock eyes with Daisy who’s watching the two of us.

Daisy’s eyes flash with curiosity but then she follows the Alpha King down the hall. I start up the stairs and Peter follows me. He sounds like he’s sulking

but I don’t care.

I make my way down the hall and wait for a good twenty minutes before knocking on the door. “You may enter!” I hear King Xander call out so I open the door. All eyes are on me but I focus on the Alpha King out of respect. “I assume you wish to speak with your Alpha and Luna so go ahead. I want to listen though.”
