The Billionaire's Regret: His Secret Wife Turned Medical Genius novel Chapter 35

Gabriel had his burning arm wrapped around Emily's waist. That was a stance brimming with possessiveness.

Gabriel looked down at Mallory icily and asked, "Dr. Prescott, are you trying to drive a wedge between me and my wife?"

Mallory was so angry at how justified he looked that she laughed. She crossed her arms, meeting Gabriel's gaze without any fear.

"So you remember that you have a wife? I thought Ms. Waverly was your wife, just like the rumor had it," Mallory jeered.

Gabriel's face instantly darkened. He tightened his grip around Emily's waist.

He didn't even bat an eye at Mallory. He simply ordered Emily, "Sign the document and get her to leave."

Mallory sneered and handed the document to Emily.

"Your beloved Ms. Waverly is making a scene at the medical mission site as we speak. If you don't head over soon, our medical team is going to quit," said Mallory.

Gabriel was stunned. He immediately went to his bedroom, got changed, and left.

While looking in the direction that he had gone, Emily felt relieved and thought he was simply predictable. Just as she had expected, he just couldn't care about anything else once Amelia was mentioned.

He probably left in such a hurry because he was afraid his lover would be mistreated at the medical mission site.

Mallory looked at Emily's pale complexion and supported her, feeling sorry for her.

"Look at him. That's just how he is. Mills, guys like this are not worth it. Don't ever go back to him," said Mallory.

Emily pulled her gaze back, which held nothing but emptiness.

"I won't."

Her voice was as soft as a sigh as she said, "My heart won't ever hold any expectations for Gabriel anymore."

Sure enough, by the time Gabriel arrived at the medical mission site, the situation was already a hot mess.

A few doctors who got along quite well with Emily were examining patients while standing. Their backs were killing them.

As for the tables and chairs, Amelia had offered them to the elderly who were waiting in line.

The thermos had disappeared from its original spot, but there were still instant noodles that had long expired in the box next to it.

And the creator of this entire chaos, Amelia, was standing in the middle of the crowd, directing everyone in a gentle voice.

Gabriel's expression had darkened to a terrifying degree. He cut through the crowd and came up to Amelia, asking, "Amelia, what are you up to this time?"

Her eyes lit up at the sight of him, and she immediately put on an innocent and aggrieved expression.

"Gabe, you're here! I saw that the workers here were exhausted, so I came to help keep an eye on the site," she explained.

In an instant, the entire medical team got moving, and order was restored at the previously chaotic site. Hot meals were given out. And doctors could finally sit.

Emily walked up to Amelia and warned her, "Ms. Waverly, this is a medical mission site, not a stage for you to complete for attention. Don't get innocent patients involved in our personal matters."

Color drained from Amelia's face, and she instinctively looked toward Gabriel.

"Gabe, did you hear that? How could Dr. Sterling say that about me?"

Tears started streaming down her face before she continued, "Does she not trust my kindness at all? Is she only going to be happy if I stand here and do nothing while the others criticize me?"

Emily found Amelia's poor acting amusing.

"You drove the doctors away, removed the examination tables, and made us fill our stomachs with a few expired instant noodles. That's some kindness you have there." She sneered.

"We truly can't afford your help," she added.

Amelia trembled, crying even harder.

Gabriel's gaze shifted between the two of them.

Finally, he looked at the sobbing Amelia and said in a tone colder and more impatient than ever, "Stay at the side. Don't stay here and prevent the doctors from performing their examinations."

Amelia whipped her head up, looking at him in disbelief.
