Roman felt a shiver down his spine for some reason as he looked at Amelia.
"I don't dare to speculate what's on his mind, Ms. Waverly, " he answered respectfully.
Amelia bit her lips, looking tearful.
"It's all my fault. I was too stubborn, so I made him upset. I'll just get in the car in the back. I can't give him more headaches anymore," she said.
If it were in the past, her wronged yet thoughtful look might gain her some sympathy from Roman.
But at this moment, Roman only thought that Amelia was simply too good at putting on an act.
…
Emily had no idea that Amelia had plotted against her even before she returned to the city.
She said nothing throughout the entire ride. She just looked at the scenery outside the window.
The sky above the highland was so blue that it looked like a gemstone.
Before she knew it, she was sound asleep.
Gabriel looked at her face with an unreadable gaze.
She was so quiet in her sleep. If only she could stay this sweet forever.
…
After traveling for nearly one whole day, they arrived back in Crestmont.
Right after Gabriel dropped Emily back at the villa, he received a call from Roman.
"Mr. Holton, Ms. Waverly is…feeling sick in the car. She kept throwing up, and she's feeling very terrible right now. She said…she wants to meet you," said Roman.
Gabriel's grip tightened around his steering wheel.
He had spent a considerable amount of time with Amelia over the past month. He could tell that it was actually all fake when Amelia repeatedly said she was unwell. But what if she was truly sick this time?
He thought of the past, and in the end, he hung up the call without saying anything, then turned the car around.
Emily raised an eyebrow as she watched him disappear into the distance.
It was perfect that he left. Without him there, she could pack up her things quietly.
Whether Gabriel was willing to divorce her or not was his business. She simply didn't want to stay with him anymore.
She had only moved in for two years, so she didn't have much. Half an hour later, all of her things were packed up.
But right as she dragged her luggage to the door, Gabriel came home.
His gaze landed on her luggage, and he asked icily, "Where are you going?"
Emily clenched her fists, forcing herself to look into his eyes. "I'm moving out to make space for the love of your life."
However, in the next second, he picked her up by her waist and walked straight to the bedroom.
"Gabriel! Let go of me! You crazy man!" she shouted.
Her resistance was futile. Soon, she was thrown onto the bed.
