"Search through all the surveillance footage in this area," Gabriel demanded. "Start from the entrance of the villa's private road. Do not miss out even a single second!"
Mallory was so stunned by his sudden change in demeanor that she stopped crying.
She didn't recognize the Gabriel that was standing before her. Was he afraid?
But that thought only briefly flashed through her mind before she ruthlessly extinguished it. She didn't care how he was acting at that moment. After all, he was the entire reason Emily was suffering through so much hardship.
Gabriel didn't bother looking at anyone else. He simply retrieved his phone and dialed a number before quickly giving out orders.
"Shut down all the docks and airports. Utilize every resource that we have to find Emily. If anything happens to her, all of you will have to bear the consequences." After he hung up the phone, he strolled out of the villa.
The police officers exchanged looks with each other before they followed him out.
Meanwhile, Mallory had regained her senses. She wiped the tears from her eyes before rushing back to her car without a moment's hesitation.
She didn't care what Gabriel was up to, but she needed to see Emily alive with her own eyes.
…
The atmosphere in the police station's command center was incredibly heavy. The gigantic screen had been sectioned off into countless smaller screens, broadcasting all the surveillance feeds in the city.
Gabriel stood before the screen. With his men and the police force working together, they were able to move the investigation along at an unprecedented speed.
They first combed through the surveillance footage surrounding the halfway point of the mountain before widening their search further.
A long time passed before one of the technical police officers shouted, "I found it!"
Everyone turned their attention to the main screen.
The footage was blown up in an instant. It showed a black van without a license plate exiting the only private road that led to the villa at 3:50 pm. It then joined the rest of the cars that were headed for the city.
"Follow it!" Gabriel demanded, his voice as cold as ice.
The officer's fingers flew across the keyboard as he swiftly switched between the different surveillance cameras, making sure to keep the black van in their sights.
The van stayed away from highways and main roads, choosing instead to travel through alleys and cutting through suburban areas. It was obvious that it was trying to avoid being followed.
Gabriel didn't wait for the police officers to give their orders. The moment he heard the abductor's words, his rationality was completely overshadowed by a murderous intent.
He darted forward so quickly that it almost looked like he left an afterimage behind him. By the time the abductors realized what was happening, he had already dashed past them.
The man with the scarred face thought that he saw something flash by him when his wrists were suddenly gripped by an overwhelming force.
He let out a pained cry when Gabriel kicked him, sending him soaring through the air and crashing against the metal door of the warehouse.
The rest of the abductors were stunned by Gabriel's sudden attack. But before they could even react, they were already surrounded by the police officers and immobilized on the ground.
Meanwhile, Gabriel didn't spare a single glance at them and simply rushed toward the van door.
Lying on the cold floor of the van was Emily. Her hands and legs had been roughly bound by rope, and a black tape had been slapped over her mouth. Her face was completely drained of color, and there were still tears clinging to the corners of her eyes.
She was completely still as she kept her eyes closed.
Anger and heartbreak mingled in Gabriel's eyes. He carefully cradled her in his arms, murmuring, "Mills…"
