The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 466

The innkeeper’s words left both of them even more conflicted. There was only one room left—how on earth were they supposed to manage?

As they stood there, stuck, a young man burst through the front door of the B&B, calling out, “Hey, do you have any rooms left?”

Rebecca snapped into action, quickly cutting him off. “We’ll take it! We’ll stay!” she blurted, turning to the innkeeper before the newcomer could even catch his breath.

Everyone was momentarily stunned.

The innkeeper wasted no time. “Alright, then!” she said, getting to her feet.

She waved the young man away. “First come, first served, pal. No rooms left. You’ll have to find somewhere else.”

The young man groaned, clutching his head in defeat before trudging out, shoulders slumped.

Rebecca turned to Dylan with a nervous little smile. “Mr. Austin, why don’t we just make do for the night?”

Dylan’s frown deepened. He was clearly reluctant, but there wasn’t much choice. If they hesitated any longer, they’d lose the last available room.

The innkeeper chimed in, still trying to sell her place. “You two lovebirds ought to stop fussing. My place is perfectly cozy—if you don’t take the room, someone else will snatch it up in no time.”

Both Rebecca and Dylan flushed at her words, awkwardness written all over their faces.

Dylan looked even more uncomfortable, but he was always a man of few words and didn’t bother to explain.

Eager to end the uncomfortable scene, Rebecca quickly changed the subject. “We’ll stay. Could we have the key, please?”

The innkeeper grinned, handing her the key. “Third floor, take a left—room 306.”

Rebecca headed upstairs, Dylan trailing behind her, and stopped in front of the door.
