The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 478

Rebecca had never imagined that being Dylan’s girlfriend would make her both the envy and the target of so much resentment. Apparently, she was quite the coveted prize.

“Lionel, just let me go,” she pleaded, forcing her voice to stay steady. “I’m telling you the truth—you have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. If you lay a hand on me, you’ll regret it. Trust me, you don’t want this kind of trouble.”

Lionel just threw back his head and laughed. “Let you go? Not a chance. Tonight, you’re mine. Maybe I’ll think about letting you go after I’ve had my fun.”

Rebecca glared at him in disgust but said nothing. She knew there was no reasoning with Lionel. He was already in too deep—embezzling money from the construction project had made him a criminal. At this point, one more crime probably didn’t make a difference in his mind. He’d clearly decided to go all in.

She tried to twist out of the ropes binding her, but Lionel had tied them so tight that her struggles only left her wrists burning.

Just then, the car jolted violently, sending Rebecca lurching forward. She nearly lost her balance, but managed to steady herself.

Lionel glanced over, a leering grin spreading across his face. “Can’t wait to throw yourself at me, huh? Take it easy, sweetheart. We’re almost there.”

Rebecca rolled her eyes at him, then scooted back and sat still, determined not to give him the satisfaction.

Lionel dragged Rebecca into a run-down, isolated cottage on the outskirts of town. Its peeling paint and broken windows made it the perfect hideout—no one in their right mind would come poking around here.

He shoved her roughly into a dingy bedroom, then turned to face her. His eyes glinted with a malicious excitement.

“From now on, you’re my prisoner,” he sneered. “You’ll do whatever I say. The sooner you start behaving, the easier this will be for you. Got it?”

So this was what he meant by “prison”—he was planning to keep her locked up.

Rebecca shot him a look of pure loathing. “You’re sick.”

Lionel only grinned wider. “You got that right. I’m as twisted as they come.”

He let his gaze linger on her face, his desire written all over it. Stroking his chin, he seemed to lose what little patience he had left.
