Dylan narrowed his eyes, staring coldly at the greedy man before him.
“What’s your daughter’s name?” Dylan asked, his gaze fixed on Gordon, not missing a single expression or movement.
Gordon answered quickly, “My daughter’s name is Rebecca, but I think she goes by Raina now. I heard she works at your company as your secretary.”
Rebecca?
Could it just be a coincidence?
Dylan’s frown deepened as he continued, “Why do you say she’s your daughter? Do you have any proof?”
Gordon scratched his head and thought for a moment. “Back then, my wife gave birth at the local clinic. I remember it clearly; she had a daughter. But I took the wrong baby home that year. I brought Katherine home. It wasn't until they were both grown that I found out Katherine was the Foster family’s daughter, and she went back to them.”
“Sigh, but my daughter Rebecca grew up with the Fosters, used to the good life. Now she won’t even acknowledge me. She even secretly ran off to Wye to become your secretary.”
Dylan’s brow furrowed.
No wonder Raina had been to Nion before and was an old acquaintance of Alan’s. So that was her connection to Katherine.
“Then why are you only looking for her now?” Dylan pressed on, finding the timing of Gordon’s appearance too coincidental, as if he had some ulterior motive.
Gordon gave an awkward laugh. “I only just recently found out where she was. Besides, I’ve fallen on hard times, so I thought if I found my daughter, she could help me out.”
His reason seemed plausible, but Dylan felt there was more to the story.
Dylan continued, “Are you certain my secretary, Raina, is your daughter?”
Gordon nodded eagerly. “Of course! She lives at Sunset Villa Estates. I bet you bought that mansion for her, right? Now that you know I’m her biological father, why don’t you let me move into the big house and enjoy life a little?”
At these words, Dylan’s brow furrowed sharply.
Sunset Villa Estates?
The person living at Sunset Villa Estates was Rebecca. Was Gordon really talking about Rebecca?
Rebecca…
