The Contract Said No Strings Attached (Charlotte) novel Chapter 539

In the Austin Group's CEO office, the lights cast a cold, quiet glow.

When Dennis came in to deliver some files, he noticed that the dinner he’d brought in earlier was already cold. His boss, however, seemed oblivious, still engrossed in his work without even looking up.

The food sat untouched, a lonely meal on the side.

Dennis couldn't stand to see it. If the President kept working like this, his health would eventually fail. He steeled himself and said, “Mr. Austin, it’s quitting time. Why don’t you take a break?”

Dylan didn't lift his head, his tone firm. “No breaks.”

After a moment of silence, he added, “I have nowhere to go after work anyway.”

Dennis was taken aback. Did that sound a bit… pathetic?

He couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Austin, you could go to Sunset Villa Estates and see Mrs. Austin and the young masters.”

Dylan answered without hesitation, “I’m not going.”

Dennis’s shoulders slumped. He groaned internally.

If you don’t go home and rest, I have to stay here and work overtime with you. When will this end?

Dylan suddenly looked up at the empty desk in front of his office. “Has she already gone home?”

Dennis nodded. “Yes, Mrs. Austin left at the end of the workday.”

Dylan frowned, lost in thought.

Dennis cautiously ventured, “Mr. Austin, why don't you want to go home? Is something on your mind?”
