Tears welled up in Garcia’s eyes. “I know, Ma'am. My whole body hurts. I’m so scared, and now Dylan won’t even come see me. What am I supposed to do?”
Mrs. Austin sighed. “Dylan… he was busy today and couldn't make it. Garcia, don't be too upset. Just focus on getting better.”
Garcia bit her lip. “Ma'am, I know Mr. Austin doesn't like me yet, but I truly love him. I can't live without him. This injury has made me realize how fragile life is, and I don't want to live with any regrets.”
She clutched Mrs. Austin’s hand, her eyes filled with desperation.
Mrs. Austin patted her hand. “Garcia, I understand how you feel, but you can’t force matters of the heart.”
Garcia’s heart went cold. She could guess what was coming from Mrs. Austin’s tone. “Ma'am, does this mean you’re not supporting me anymore? You promised you would help me become Mrs. Austin.”
Mrs. Austin frowned. “Garcia, I did promise you that, but things have changed. Dylan’s feelings for Rebecca… there’s nothing I can do about it.”
Garcia’s expression hardened. “It’s all Rebecca. She stole Mr. Austin from me. Ma'am, I'll tell you the truth. The driver who hit me today said he was a hitman sent by Rebecca. She wants to kill me! Waaaah…”
Mrs. Austin was stunned. “What? Rebecca sent a hitman to kill you? Why would she do that?”
Garcia sobbed, “She's afraid I'll take Mr. Austin away from her, so she did this to me. Ma'am, you have to help me! If you don’t do something, I’m going to end up dead.”
She gripped Mrs. Austin’s hand as if it were her last lifeline.
But in the next moment, Mrs. Austin fell into deep thought.
“Ma'am? What’s wrong? Why did you suddenly go quiet?” Garcia asked nervously.
