…
Meanwhile, Rebecca had already walked into the residential complex.
When she reached Isabella’s apartment, she knocked on the door. It opened quickly.
But the person who opened it wasn’t Isabella; it was William.
Rebecca’s face registered her surprise. “Huh? Isn’t this Bella’s place? William, what are you doing here?”
Her expression was full of curiosity, and she could already smell a juicy story brewing.
But just as her imagination started to run wild, she heard Isabella cry out, “Ow! That hurts, it hurts so much!”
Rebecca looked past William with concern. “Bella, what happened?”
Isabella poked her head out. “I got hurt. William was the one who brought me home.”
William stepped back to let Rebecca in, explaining, “That's right. She was injured, so I just brought her home.”
Rebecca looked at William. “Oh, so that’s all it is.”
Her tone held a hint of disappointment; she had been hoping their relationship had taken a step forward.
Her eyes fell on Isabella’s leg, which was wrapped up like a mummy. “How did you get hurt like this?”
Isabella answered angrily, “Do you remember Una? After she got fired, she held a grudge against me. To get revenge, she pushed me down a flight of stairs.”
“What?” Rebecca was shocked, imagining how serious a fall down the stairs could be.
Isabella waved a dismissive hand. “Don’t worry, it’s not too bad. I’ll be fine after some rest. But Una is finished this time. I won’t let her get away with this.”
Her eyes were filled with determination. She was going to get her revenge.
Rebecca let out a sigh of relief. “Good. We shouldn’t have let her off so easily last time. We gave her the chance to hurt you again.”
Then, she turned to William. “William, you should take good care of Bella during this time. Since she’s injured and you’re an orthopedic surgeon, you’re the perfect person to look after her.”
