The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 102

David had already come out, and he’d heard every word of that voice message.

Ella just stood there, stunned. Her brain completely short-circuited. In a flash, she jumped to her feet. “Wait, I can explain…”

Her nerves got the best of her. She fumbled her phone and it fell onto the bed.

Fiona’s voice kept going, loud and clear. “He is seriously hot. I bet he’s got a six pack for sure. And did you see his hands? I heard guys with long fingers are amazing in bed. Ella, you’ve got this! Sleep with him tonight!”

Whatever explanation Ella had ready just died in her throat.

She honestly wanted to bang her head against the wall.

Help. She and Fiona had started out talking so normally, but somehow Fiona had taken the conversation straight into the gutter.

The awkwardness in the room was off the charts.

Ella glanced at David, who was standing by the bathroom door. She forced out a tiny laugh. “You heard all that, right? That was all Fiona. Not me.”

Sometimes, you just had to throw your best friend under the bus.

David had just finished showering, his skin still dewy, the clean scent of soap clinging to him. His handsome face gave nothing away. He just said, “Go take a shower.”

“Oh.” Ella scurried into the bathroom and shut the door.

Three seconds later, David heard her let out a muffled, frustrated scream. “Ahhh!”

She was losing her mind.

A slow smile crept across David’s lips.

Ella dragged out her shower for as long as she could, but eventually she had to come out. She had never been this embarrassed in her life.

David was already in bed, leaning lazily against the headboard, scanning something on his phone.

There was only one bed in the room. He was in it. So where was she supposed to sleep?

Her face, which had just cooled down, instantly went up in flames again.

Seriously. What was today? Now she and David were basically listening to a live performance through the wall.

Ella cracked one eye open, sneaking a look at David. He was lying there quietly, eyes open.

She whispered, “It’s kind of noisy next door, isn’t it?”

David turned his head and looked at her, his gaze lingering on her burning cheeks. There was a hint of a smile in his eyes. “I thought you were going to ask what they were doing.”

Ella didn’t say a word.

Of course he’d think she was being coy on purpose.

She gripped the blanket with both hands and burrowed her face into it. There was no way she could show her face again after tonight.

David’s lips curled into a smile, totally amused by how cute she was when she was flustered.
