She pressed her lips to his.
David’s eyes flashed with heat. He pushed her away, voice rough. “Ella.”
She looked up at him, her delicate face soft and innocent, but her gaze shimmered with a shy kind of sweetness. “Aren’t you going to answer Jessa’s call?”
David didn’t reply. He just leaned down and kissed her hard.
The phone kept buzzing between them, Jessa’s call relentless. Ella felt that wild thrill again, the rush of doing something forbidden, even though she and David were married. Somehow, it always felt like they were sneaking around, hiding from Jessa.
David’s kiss was wild, almost desperate, as if he was punishing her. He bit her lips, then deepened the kiss, stealing every breath from her lungs. He was like a storm, sweeping her away.
She was always tempting him. She knew exactly how to get under his skin.
Mike had once said it, and he was right. Ella had a way of drawing men in.
Her hand slipped up, fingertips brushing his chest, then sliding under his collar.
David’s breath caught, and he pulled away. “Ella, are you sure about this?”
Her cheeks were flushed, her lips rosy. “Don’t you want to?”
She remembered that night at Briarwood Estate, the way he’d pressed her against the wall. Neither of them had talked about it since, but it was always there between them.
David’s voice was rough. “Why?”
Ella met his eyes. “You saved me today. I want to thank you. After this, we won’t owe each other anything.”
That was her way of repaying him. She didn’t want to be in his debt.
David stared at her, his eyes dark.
“You don’t have to worry,” she said softly. “This will just be between us. I won’t tell Jessa.”
His eyes grew even stormier.
Ella leaned in and kissed him lightly, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “David, I’m actually really good at this… Mmph.”
She was telling the truth. She’d studied medicine, so she knew exactly where a man’s weak spots were.
