“Sarah, Grandma Chelsea still doesn’t approve of me,” Jessa confessed, her voice low and urgent. “If I want the Lynch family’s support, Allie is my way in. I just need to get close to her, win her over, and really become her friend. Once I have her on my side, marrying David and becoming Mrs. Harmon won’t just be a dream anymore.”
Jessa had always been good at charming people. All those rich kids who hung around with David liked her.
But Allie was different. Winning her over meant winning the entire Lynch family.
That was David’s mother’s side. Their support mattered more than anything.
Sarah nodded. “I’ll keep looking for her, Jessa. Honestly, I’m curious about Allie too.”
…
Jessa didn’t see David when she got back to the VIP suite. He had left a while ago and still hadn’t returned.
Eventually, she found him alone in a plush lounge, sprawled on the sofa. He looked like he’d had too much to drink, and he wasn’t hiding his bad mood. His phone sat abandoned on the coffee table. He leaned back, broad shoulders slouched into the cushions, long legs stretched out, feet propped up on the table.
His eyes were closed, and he was rubbing his temple with the hand that wore his expensive watch.
No matter how long they’d been together, Jessa’s heart never failed to race for him.
She always thought real love started with admiration. David was born with money, status, and power. Even sitting there with that careless attitude, he looked every bit the powerful businessman. She couldn’t help wanting him, admiring him.
Jessa tiptoed over, stopping right behind him. With gentle fingers, she started massaging his temples.
Her touch was perfect, firm but soothing. David let his hand fall away, the tension in his face slowly melting.
Jessa smiled. “You’re not even opening your eyes to see who’s touching you. Would you let any girl do this?”
