The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 169

Atlas hadn’t bothered to check out any of the other gifts, but he was clearly interested in Ella’s. “I’m curious too,” he said.

Cedric set the gift bag on the coffee table, and Atlas reached inside.

Ella felt a prickle of nerves. She was sure her gift was going to let him down. She started to explain, “Atlas, I was in such a rush, so I just bought a…”

She trailed off. The word “wallet” never made it out, because Atlas pulled something else from the bag.

It wasn’t a wallet. It was a letter.

Ella stared, stunned.

Someone in the crowd called out, “Atlas, she gave you a letter? Read it out loud for us.”

Atlas unfolded the letter and read, “Atlas, today is your birthday and I want to give you something special. Actually, I’ve liked you since the first moment I saw you. Let’s start dating.”

Ella couldn’t even react.

She hadn’t written that letter. Her gift had been switched.

She remembered that Cedric had held her gift bag for a moment earlier.

Ella glanced at Cedric, who was grinning at her, looking way too pleased with himself.

It was obvious he was behind this.

Across the room, Jessa was watching too, a knowing smile on her lips. Ella got it right away. Jessa had put Cedric up to this, and Cedric always did whatever Jessa wanted.

So this was part of Jessa’s plan for the party.

The room burst into excitement. “Atlas, she wrote you a love letter for your birthday!”

“Looks like Atlas is finally off the market! Kiss! Kiss!” Everyone started chanting.

Ella didn’t want to give him false hope. That wouldn’t be fair to him.

But Atlas had always been a gentleman. He never made things awkward between them, never pushed her. They’d always just been friends.

Now, with everyone watching, she really couldn’t turn him down. Atlas had always been so good to her. The people who were kind to her were rare, and she never forgot it.

She gave in. “Alright.”

Atlas' whole face lit up. He pulled her into a hug. “Ella, thanks for the birthday present. I really do like it.”

Everyone started clapping and cheering. “Atlas has a girlfriend!”

In the middle of all the excitement, someone else was watching.

David sat on the sofa, his gaze icy as he watched the two of them.
