The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 251

Ella wrapped Fiona in a big hug. “Fiona, you’ve really had a rough couple of days.”

Fiona just grinned. “Please, I was getting three meals a day and sleeping like a baby. Couldn’t have asked for more.”

The three of them burst out laughing.

Monica showed up right then, her glare practically burning a hole through Ella. She’d planned to use Fiona to make Ella miserable, but somehow the whole thing had flipped on her. She couldn’t stand it.

She knew David was into Ella. That night, it was Ella who had been with him, not her. So when she saw that text from Ella, she totally freaked out.

She sent someone to check things out and found out Ella had really gone to Harmon Corporation to see David. Soon after, David left with Ella in his fancy car.

That scared her more than she wanted to admit.

Her only move was to show up at the police station, change her story, and get Fiona released.

Monica’s pretty, innocent face twisted with jealousy. She stared Ella down. “Ella, you know I’m with Mr. Harmon. How could you still go after him? You really have no shame…”

Ella didn’t miss a beat. “Monica.” She gave her a look and nodded toward the street. “Mr. Harmon is right outside. Don’t let him see you like this. Trust me, it’s not a good look.”

Monica spun around and spotted the Rolls-Royce Phantom parked outside, half-hidden in the shadows. The car looked sleek and mysterious, and even though she couldn’t see inside, she was sure someone in there was watching her.

In an instant, Monica switched from angry to helpless, her eyes watery and lips trembling.

Then she heard a soft laugh behind her. She turned and met Ella’s eyes.

Ella stood under the bright lights, her gaze sharp and clear, cutting right through every bit of Monica’s act.

Monica went pale.

“Mr. Harmon, Ella and I are friends. Even though Fiona tried to hurt me, I still let her go…” Monica started, trying to sound sweet and generous, hoping he’d see her as the good one.

David lounged in the seat, his long fingers resting on the wheel. He gave her a blank look, then suddenly asked, “Was it really you that night?”

Monica froze. “What?”

His voice was cold. “The giel with me at Bellemont Manor. Was that actually you?”

Her mind raced. Why was he asking this? Did he know? Had he figured out that it wasn’t her, that it was Ella? Did he know she’d been pretending all along?

Monica forced a smile. “Of course, Mr. Harmon. That night… it was me.”

David saw the flicker of guilt in her eyes. His own gaze turned sharp and icy, all warmth gone.
