The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 259

Monica could barely keep still. She typed, “Mr. Harmon, are you here yet?”

David’s eyes, usually so cold, turned impossibly dark. He replied with just two words. “I’m here.”

...

At the birthday party, Monica’s heart did a little leap when she saw his message. He really came. David was here.

Too bad Ella wasn’t around. Monica wished she could see this. She wanted Ella to witness her moment.

She turned to the crowd, her smile bright. “Everyone, we can finally start. The special guest I’ve been waiting for has arrived.”

Someone called out, “Who’s the guest?”

Another voice piped up, “Monica, don’t keep us hanging! Bring him out already.”

Monica’s lips curled into a confident grin. “Alright, let’s welcome him in.”

The ballroom doors opened. Instantly, every head turned to look.

A man walked in.

Monica rushed forward, excitement bubbling up. “Mr. Har…”

The words stuck in her throat. She stopped in her tracks, completely stunned.

It wasn’t David. It was her boyfriend, Hayden.

Hayden looked like he’d come straight from work, still in his construction uniform. He walked up to Monica, beaming. “Happy birthday, Monica.”

Monica couldn’t believe it. What was Hayden doing here? Where was David?

For years, Hayden had worked on construction sites to support her through college. But Monica had never really cared about him. She knew she was pretty, had the type of figure that turned heads, and Hayden was just a stepping stone for her. He wasn’t good enough. She wanted someone like David. She wanted to be famous, to marry rich, to leave her background behind for good.

Monica’s eyes flashed with panic. How did Hayden even find this place? He was ruining everything.

“I don’t know this man! Security, get him out of here!” Monica’s voice trembled.

Desperate, Hayden pulled her into a hug. “Monica, why won’t you admit I’m your boyfriend? Is it because you’re famous now? Are you ashamed of me? Do you think I’m not good enough?”

“I…”

Before Monica could say anything, Hayden grabbed his phone and held it out for everyone to see. “Look, here are our photos together. I’m Monica’s boyfriend.

“I’ve worked on construction sites for years to pay for her education. I spent over a hundred thousand dollars on her. She promised to marry me after she graduated.”

He scrolled through his phone, showing picture after picture of the two of them, hugging and kissing, looking every bit the couple.

The whole room exploded in chaos.
