The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 27

Ella must have arrived at some point, though Rachel had no idea when. Now she just stood there, calm and silent, those bright, clear eyes taking in every bit of Rachel’s panic and embarrassment.

Rachel froze on the spot.

Harold rushed over to Ella, practically groveling. “Ms. Irvine.”

Ella pulled out a pen, then, without a word, tossed it right into the fountain outside. “Harold, I lost my pen.”

“Ms. Irvine, I’ll get it for you right away.”

He dashed outside and, without hesitating for even a second, leapt straight into the cold autumn water.

Rachel watched, stunned, barely able to believe what she was seeing.

A moment later, Harold’s head popped up from the water. He was completely drenched but held the pen up like it was a treasure. “Ms. Irvine, I found your pen.”

Rachel stared at Ella like she was looking at something inhuman.

Ella smiled, just the faintest curve of her lips. “Well? Don’t recognize me?”

Rachel was at a loss. She couldn’t begin to guess what Ella had done to Harold to make him act like that. It was like he was a trained pet.

Ella’s voice was calm, steady. “You know, I’ve never really understood why you treat me this way. What else do you want? You took Dad’s house, his company, you got rid of the daughter he loved most…and you even ruined the wine he left for me.”

She stepped closer, closing the space between them. “Today is just a little warning. You should get to know me again. I’m not the same Ella you remember. Don’t mess with me.”

Rachel stared, horrified. Ella’s eyes were icy and deep, not a hint of warmth. They were so dark, it was like staring into a dangerous, endless abyss. Rachel’s heart skipped a beat.

Before Rachel could react, Ella turned and walked away.

She made her way across the lawn. Just then, a Rolls-Royce Phantom pulled up fast. David was back, dropping Jessa off.
