The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 28

“What?”

Jessa and Rachel both froze. Their faces fell in an instant.

Ella glanced at Jessa, her eyes wide with fake surprise. “Seriously? Are you telling me David didn’t tell you he kissed me last night?”

She pretended to think for a second. “Yeah, he kissed me last night. It was pretty wild, honestly, but… wow, he was terrible at it. No skill at all. I actually started wondering if David even knows how to kiss.”

Jessa stared at David, completely stunned. He had kissed Ella?

David’s expression turned icy, his jaw tight. It was hard to tell if he was more upset that Ella had spilled the secret or that she just trashed his kissing in front of everyone. His eyes locked on Ella, cold and sharp.

“Ella.” His tone was low, annoyed.

Ella just smirked. So what, was he mad because she said a couple of things to Jessa?

She met his gaze head on. “Why are you raising your voice? With kissing that bad, I don’t even want to stay married to you for another minute. Let’s just get a divorce.”

David said nothing. Jessa and Rachel were both at a loss for words.

Was Ella actually losing it today?

David’s features hardened, his mouth set in a hard line. “Fine. Let’s do it now.”

. . .

Ella slid into the back seat of David’s Rolls-Royce. He drove, silent, heading straight for the courthouse.

The car was quiet, tense, not a single word between them.

David gripped the wheel, his expensive watch catching the light as he drove, switching lanes and turning with effortless confidence.

“Who picked you up last night?” he asked suddenly.

Last night. Those two words made Ella’s heart skip.

She shrugged. “The guy you sent wasn’t my type. I went to find someone else.”
