The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 301

Friendships between girls are simple. It’s all about being real with each other. Lilly and Jessa would probably never be friends in this lifetime.

David got out of bed, grabbed a warm towel from the bathroom, and gently pressed it to Ella’s injury. The heat would help, he figured.

He slipped back under the covers just as his phone lit up. It’s message from Jessa. She’d sent a photo of some runway lingerie, lacy and daring, and asked, “Do you like it?”

Since getting back together, Jessa had changed a lot. She wasn’t so spoiled anymore. She tried hard to please him, always looking for ways to get closer, maybe hoping they’d take things to the next level. They were adults. Some things didn’t need spelling out.

David was about to reply when suddenly, a small, soft body rolled right into his arms. He froze, glancing down to find Ella snuggled up against him.

Lilly, sleeping on the far side, had rolled over and stolen all the blankets, leaving Ella shivering. Instinctively, Ella had reached for warmth, which just happened to be David.

He stiffened, holding his breath as Ella, still half asleep, lifted his blanket and burrowed beneath it. Now they were sharing the same cocoon of warmth, her head resting on his chest, breathing softly.

David swallowed hard. “Ella? Ella?” he whispered.

She frowned in her sleep, mumbling, “So noisy. Stop it.”

He just stared at her. Then, as if things weren’t complicated enough, her hand slid down, slipping under his shirt and coming to rest on his abs. “So warm,” she sighed.

Her fingers were chilly, and she seemed perfectly content to use him as her personal heater.

The next morning, Lilly was the first to wake up. She rubbed her eyes and sat up, still groggy, then froze in disbelief.

David and Ella were curled up together, sound asleep, wrapped in the same blanket. David’s arm was slung over Ella’s shoulder, holding her close.

Was she dreaming? Lilly rubbed her eyes again, but the scene didn’t change. It was real.

Without thinking, Lilly yanked the blanket off them and gave David a hard shove, sending him tumbling right off the bed.
