The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 332

Lilly came home.

But she was alone. Ella wasn’t with her.

Mr. Lynch looked at her, confused. “Allie, why are you back by yourself? Where’s Ella?”

Lilly set her things down and shrugged. “Dad, she had something to take care of, so she couldn’t come today.”

David watched her, pressing his lips together. “What kind of thing?”

Lilly smiled, a little sly. “Well, if you really want to know, I’ll tell you. Ella went out to have some fun.”

“Fun?” David asked, already frowning.

“She went to Seacore City. I heard snow is coming, so Ella and a bunch of friends went to see the first snowfall. Luke is with them too.”

David remembered now. Yesterday, Mr. Shepherd had mentioned taking everyone to Seacore City to watch the snow. He’d said no, not thinking much of it. He hadn’t expected Ella to go, or for Luke to tag along.

Lilly grinned. “I think Luke has a big crush on Ella. He even drove to pick her up this morning. Looks like you don’t need to introduce her to any CEOs anymore.”

She let out a long, dramatic sigh. “Some men just don’t see what’s right in front of them. They have a treasure in their hands but toss it away for something worthless. Now that treasure is getting snapped up by someone else.”

David said nothing.

Lilly never said a bad word about him, but every sentence stung. Ella was the treasure, Jessa was the worthless stone, and Lilly was making sure he understood how badly he’d messed up.

...

Ella arrived in Seacore City with a group of about a dozen students, all top scholars from different schools. Luke was there too, and everyone was in high spirits.

They checked into a seaside resort. The lobby smelled like the ocean, and the city was just beyond the front doors.

One of the girls asked, “What about your dad, Ella? Why didn’t he come with you?”

Back then, when her father was still there, he’d built her a swing. On snowy days, she’d sit on it while he stood behind her, holding an umbrella and pushing her higher, up into the wintry sky she loved so much.

He used to say, “I heard Seacore City has the most beautiful snow. Next year, I’ll take you there.”

But by the next year, her dad was gone.

Ella smiled gently. “My dad passed away.”

The girls around her patted her on the shoulder, their eyes soft with sympathy.

Luke said, “It’s okay. Your dad can’t be here to watch the snow with you, but we can.”

Someone checked their phone and grinned. “Looks like the first snow is coming soon. Let’s drop our things in our rooms and head out. We’ll see the first snow of winter together.”
