David glanced down at the photo, his eyes dark and intense. He recognized that Ferrari right away.
He looked at Atlas. “The girl you saw was driving this car?”
Atlas nodded. “Yeah. She even managed to shake me off. She’s something else.”
David was pretty sure he’d given that Ferrari to Ella. Along with a massive check, he’d gifted her a few cars and houses. Aiden had reported back that she only picked the Ferrari. He remembered thinking it was strange—she never struck him as the type who could handle a sports car.
He knew Atlas could drive. They’d raced together before, just for fun. How could Ella, a girl from the countryside, outrun Atlas in a race?
Aiden showed up just then. “Sir.”
David got up. “I’ll step out for a minute.”
He walked over to a dark corner. Aiden lowered his voice. “Sir, Mrs. Harmon called earlier. She took the Ferrari out tonight. It sounds like she got into a race and crashed into a wall. The front end’s completely wrecked.”
David’s face was unreadable. “Is she hurt?”
“No, sir. She’s fine. Should I have the car shipped overseas for repairs?”
David’s voice was cool. “No. Get rid of it.”
Aiden paused, caught off guard. “Sir, you mean…?”
“Make the car disappear. I don’t want anyone finding out anything about it. You understand what I’m saying?”
Aiden broke out in a cold sweat. Someone had clearly pushed David to the edge tonight. “Yes, sir.”
“You can go.”
