Ella couldn’t help but laugh. Who did he think he was, her boss? Why should she have to listen to him?
She ignored him, as usual.
From the driver’s seat, Wyatt chuckled. “Ella, even though you and Mr. Harmon are divorced, I get the feeling things aren’t really finished between you two. Does he still like you or something?”
Ella just shrugged. “No idea.”
Wyatt grinned. “Back at the store, when I put my arm around you, Mr. Harmon looked like he wanted to rip my hand off. Pretending to be your boyfriend is seriously dangerous work.”
Ella looked over at him. “So, are you in or not? If you’re scared, I can always ask Otis or Adam.”
Wyatt laughed. “No way, Ella. I’d walk through fire for you.”
Their banter made the ride fly by, and soon they pulled up at Central College. Ella headed to the dorm, but Lilly wasn’t there.
So she sat down to wait.
And just as she’d guessed, Lilly was off looking for Jace.
Lilly found her way to Jace’s classroom. Before she could even say a word, two guys hurried over. “Hey, Lilly,” one of them greeted.
Lilly blinked. “You know me?”
“Of course we do. You’ve been coming here to find Jace every day for a week.”
“You’re basically famous now,” the other guy chimed in. “Everyone’s heard about how Jace and Lucas fought over you on the basketball court.”
Lilly had no idea she’d become so well-known. But after the birthmark on her face was gone, her small, pretty face caught everyone’s attention wherever she went.
