Lilly stopped struggling the moment she heard him. She quietly slipped into the passenger seat of the Ferrari.

Lucas walked around and slid into the driver’s seat, his face tense. “Lilly, are you really that interested in Jace?”

She hadn’t wanted to get in his car at first. But mention Jace, and suddenly, she was willing.

Lilly looked up at him. “Lucas, do you realize how weird you’re being right now?”

Lucas was caught off guard.

“I’ve already stepped back for you and Sarah. She’s your girlfriend now. She’s gorgeous, she’s a dancer, and she’s totally your type. Shouldn’t you be with her? Why are you still bothering me?”

Lucas’ hands tightened on the wheel. “I…”

She cut him off. “Lucas, don’t even try to tell me you have feelings for me.”

Lucas noticed the sarcasm and challenge in her eyes, and his temper flared. He let out a cold laugh. “Lilly, please. Don’t flatter yourself. Why would I ever fall for you?”

“Perfect.”

She didn’t need his feelings anyway.

Lucas tried to convince himself it was just jealousy. Lilly used to be all about him, and now she had moved on to Jace… who just happened to be his biggest rival. Of course it stung.

If this was her way of getting his attention, he had to admit, it was working.

Half an hour later, the Ferrari pulled up to a construction site. Lilly got out of the car.

She had never been anywhere like this before. It was loud and chaotic, just like the place where Jace lived.

She glanced around, then stepped right into a patch of mud. Her cute leather shoes were instantly ruined.
