The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 387

Lucas clenched his fists. “Lilly, are you seriously under Jace’s spell or something?”

“That’s none of your business.”

Lucas put his hands on his hips and let out a frustrated laugh. “Okay, fine. Then my business is none of yours either. I’m going to talk to Jace right now.”

He spun around and started walking straight toward Jace.

Lilly’s face darkened instantly. She hurried after him, grabbing his arm. “Lucas, what are you doing? People are working here. You can’t just barge in and bother them.”

Right then, the site foreman rushed over, out of breath and flustered. He nodded and bowed at Lucas. “Mr. Matthis, what brings you here? The place is a mess, sir, please don’t get your clothes dirty. Are you here to check on the site?”

Lilly froze, realization dawning on her.

Lucas shot her a smug smile. “Oh, I forgot to mention. This is one of my family’s projects. It’s our construction site. So yeah, I’m totally allowed to inspect how things are going.”

Lilly almost forgot that the Matthis family was in real estate. This was one of their developments. Jace had ended up working on their turf, of all places.

Lucas turned to the foreman. “I heard there’s someone named Jace working here?”

The foreman nodded. “Yes, there is.”

“Call him over.”

Without hesitation, the foreman called out, “Jace, come here!”

Jace set down the heavy bag of cement on his shoulder and looked up. The moment he saw Lucas and Lilly, his eyes narrowed slightly.

There were workers everywhere, and the flashy Ferrari parked nearby was impossible to miss. So were Lucas and Lilly, standing out as the picture-perfect, gorgeous pair.

Jace’s face was unreadable, icy as ever. He strode over with long steps.

The foreman smiled. “Mr. Matthis, this is Jace. Don’t be fooled by how young he is. He works harder than anyone. He’ll do any job without complaint.”
