The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 51

Ella had already guessed back at the old estate that it was Jessa who sent the photo.

In the hospital room, she kept her voice gentle and patient, drawing the truth out of Jessa little by little, letting her admit everything to David herself.

When David ended the call, he lifted his gaze to Ella.

Her eyes were sharp and cool. A smirk played on her lips as she said, “Mr. Harmon, I hate to disappoint you, but that photo wasn’t from me. Jessa sent it.”

David’s brow creased, but he didn’t reply.

Ella turned to leave.

As she moved past him, David’s hand shot out, catching her arm.

Ella’s reaction was swift. She shook him off, refusing to let him touch her.

She spoke quietly before leaving. “After you left, Grandma was so upset she fainted. Even in her sleep, she kept calling your name. If you have time, go see her.”

Aiden came over, lowering his voice. “Sir, I think Mrs. Harmon misunderstood you. You never really took Jessa’s word for it. You were outside the whole time. Even if she hadn’t called, you would have heard everything.”

David wasn’t the type to believe anyone blindly. He had kept his expression unreadable, giving Ella and Jessa a chance to talk alone, but really, he had been just outside, wanting to see who was telling the truth.

He hadn’t expected Ella to handle it so calmly. The way she guided Jessa into confessing was smart. She’d turned the tables, and Jessa—who’d threatened to teach her a lesson—ended up being the one who got schooled.

Aiden watched as Ella disappeared down the hall. “Sir, I don’t think Mrs. Harmon is just some ordinary girl from the countryside.”

David had always thought Ella was just another pretty face, not worth a second thought. But after today, he couldn’t help but see her differently.
