He had even crushed a wine glass in his hand.
Lately, he’d been so enchanted by her beauty that he barely recognized himself.
Let her have her fun. She and Atlas could do whatever they wanted.

At the Irvine family’s villa, Jessa sat on the living room sofa, fuming. “Dad, Mom, David is ignoring me!”
Peter looked genuinely surprised. “Jessa, why would Mr. Harmon ignore you? Have he and Ella divorced yet? When is he going to marry you?”
Jessa stomped her foot, frustration clear in her voice. “They’re not divorced! It’s all Ella’s fault. She doesn’t want a divorce at all!”
Peter shot an unhappy look at Rachel. “What’s going on? Isn’t Ella your daughter? Why can’t you do something about her? Why does she always have to stand in Jessa’s way?”
Rachel instantly softened her tone. “Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’ll figure out a way to make Mr. Harmon and Ella get divorced soon.”
“And how are you going to do that?”
Rachel’s lips curled into a confident smile. “Grandma’s eightieth birthday is in a couple of days. I have a little show planned for the party.”
Peter turned to Jessa, trying to reassure her. “Just bear with it for a couple more days.”
Jessa got up with a huff. “I’m going upstairs.”
As soon as Jessa left, Peter stood as well, ready to head out.
Rachel blocked his way. “It’s late. Just stay home.”
Ever since the failed attempt to drug Ella, Peter had been distant, barely coming home at night and leaving Rachel alone.
She pressed against him, her manicured fingers tracing slow circles on his chest. “I miss you.”
