The master bedroom was empty. Ella was already gone.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Aiden appeared in the doorway. “Sir, I saw your wife leaving when I got here.”
She left?
Didn’t he tell her to stay?
“Sir, I’ve sent someone to find the antidote for the incense,” Aiden said.
David pressed his lips together. “Don’t bother.”
He headed straight into the bathroom and turned on the cold water again.
The truth was, Ella had already put out most of the incense. He’d only breathed in a little. The effects weren’t that strong. He could handle it with pure willpower.
David stood under the shower, letting icy water pour over his body, droplets streaming down his skin. Anyone would get a nosebleed just from looking at him.
With his eyes closed, all he could see was Ella’s pretty face, small and delicate, and her soft hands that felt like silk.
She made him feel so good.
The desire he’d tried to push down started burning up again. He cursed quietly, dropped his head, and finally gave in to it.
...
The next morning, Ella woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. It was Fiona, her best friend.
She answered and immediately heard chaos in the background. Fiona sounded panicked. “Ella, you need to watch out for Cedric. He showed up at my magazine with a bunch of guys and they’re making a mess of everything.”
What?
Cedric went to Fiona’s office?
