The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 97

David didn’t even glance up. “Talk.”

“Ten years ago, Mike went to prison for child abuse and attempted rape.”

David’s pen froze on the page. He looked at Aiden, completely stunned. “Was Ella the victim?”

Aiden nodded. “Yes, sir. Mrs. Harmon’s foster father is nothing but a monster.”

David’s jaw tightened, his features turning cold and sharp. He’d always felt there was something hidden between Ella and her foster father, but he never expected something this dark.

Right then, his phone rang.

He answered quickly. Fiona’s voice came through, trembling with panic. “Mr. Harmon, it’s bad. Something happened to Ella.”

David’s grip on the phone tightened. “What happened?”

“Ella took a check and went to the nightclub to meet her disgusting foster father. I didn’t trust him, so I followed, but by the time I got there, she was already gone. He took her, Mr. Harmon. I couldn’t stop him.”

What?

David jumped to his feet, rushed out of the study, and pushed open the bedroom door. The room was empty. She really was gone. She’d just been here a moment ago, and now she’d gone to find Mike on her own.

“Why would she take a check to meet him?”

“Mike has a photo of Ella.”

What kind of photo? Was it the one Mike sent over today?

David spotted a small box on the nightstand. He opened it and found a single photo inside.

David snapped back to the present.

“Please, you have to send someone to find Ella. She’s in that monster’s hands again. You have to get her back this time. Don’t let him hurt her,” Fiona pleaded desperately.

Right. Nothing else mattered now. He needed to find Ella. If he could just find her, he’d finally know if she was the girl from his past. If she was, and he’d been making a mistake all this time, leaving her alone with that monster… he’d never forgive himself.

She must have been so scared back then.

He promised he would take her away.

He promised he would be her family.

David’s eyes burned red as he turned to Aiden, his voice low and icy. “Get all the surveillance footage. Track down Mike’s car. Lock down every road in and out of Rockford Bay. I want him caught. No matter what.”
