The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 98

Mike floored the gas pedal, the white van tearing down the highway. In the rearview mirror, he kept glancing back at the back seat. Ella was sprawled out, still unconscious.

His eyes lingered on her body, and he felt a twisted thrill. He wanted her, right here and now. But he forced himself to wait. He needed to get her far away, somewhere nobody knew them. Once they disappeared, she wouldn’t have a chance to get away. He could do whatever he pleased.

Just thinking about it made his heart race.

Suddenly, the cars in front of him all slowed to a stop. Mike slammed the brakes, cursing under his breath. What was going on? The traffic was at a standstill.

The drivers next to him rolled down their windows, sticking their heads out. “What happened up there? Was there a crash?”

“It’s not an accident. Someone blocked the road. All the exits are closed off. They’re stopping every car.”

Blocked roads?

Mike’s face went pale. He felt a knot of dread in his stomach.

“Who has the power to lock down all of Rockford Bay like this?”

“I heard it’s David Harmon, the CEO of Harmon Corporation. Rockford Bay is basically his backyard. He calls the shots here.”

“Mr. Harmon shutting down the whole place… You think he’s out looking for his runaway wife?”

“Come on, you read too many romance novels.”

The drivers kept gossiping, but Mike barely heard them. Panic was rising in his chest. David was searching for Ella. This was bad. Really bad.

That idiot Rachel swore David didn’t care about Ella at all, that she was just an unwanted wife. So why was he causing such a huge scene for her?

Mike just smirked, completely unfazed. “You were beautiful even when you first arrived. I used to think, when you grew up, every man would want you. Why let them get the chance? You could have been mine. My wife.”

“Why couldn’t you just behave? Why’d you blind me in one eye? Why’d you send me to prison for ten years? See, nothing’s changed. You’re still going to end up under me. Still my plaything to break.”

Mike’s obsession was out of control. He’d waited for her to wake up so he could make her suffer and get even for everything she’d done to him.

He grabbed at her clothes, trying to rip them away.

Ella fought back, twisting and struggling. “Let go of me! Don’t touch me!”

Mike was breathing hard, voice rough. “Who do you think is coming to save you? Your husband, David?”

He remembered the chaos from earlier, the way he’d run for his life. Bitterness flashed in his eyes. “It’s too late. By the time he gets here, I’ll be finished with you. After that, do you really think he’ll still want you?”
