Piper
Even without Henry here, I slept better Thursday night than I had the night before, so on Friday I was ready to take on the Academy, my family, my future, Justine, and the whole damn world.
Alpha Michael let me know that he and I would meet with the leaders of the three elite teams on Monday night
which is good. It gives me this weekend to try and contact Gavin, deal with Justine, and still have time to spend with my pack.
1 smile. My pack. It feels good to have a place where I not only feel like I belong, but it feels like mine.
It’s the same this Friday as it was last Friday. I’m at the end of my last class of the day when Henry’s mind connects to mine. Fallon begins purring in our mind and I feel Henry and Tyrus brush against our consciousness, instantly relaxing me.
As soon as class ends, I race toward the dorms, following the pull to my mate. This time, he’s waiting outside for me. When he sees me running toward him, he smiles and open his arms. I don’t hesitate. I leap into his arms, knowing my mate will always catch me.
‘Yes, I will, he growls in the mind link as his mouth claims mine.”Hey, Henry.”
“Hey, Alpha Smooth Talker.”
“Hi, Alpha Henry.”.
My friends all say hello as they walk by but Henry doesn’t stop kissing me.
“Are you about ready to go?” he asks when he finally pulls away.
“How much time do we have?” I purr.
“Not long. Q told me not to take any detours.”
“Well, my bag is in my bedroom, so it’s technically not a detour.”
“No tearing my clothes off, these are all I have,” he says, walking me inside.
I grin, unbuttoning his shirt as we walk. “You are so naughty,” he growls.
“Yes, lam,” I say.
An hour later, I feel better, but still in desperate need of my mate. However, I know he’s right and we re already running late.
“Do you want to call Gavin before we get too far down the road?” he asks.
“Yes,” I say. I pull out my phone and when it goes tovoicemail, I leave a message letting Gavin know that if he. wants to talk, he can reach me at this number.
“I guess we’ll see what happens,” I say.
The two-and-a-half-hour drive is our time. It’s more special to me than our calls at night because here, we can touch and I’m surrounded by his scent as we drive.
When we arrive at our pack, Quirin and Kennedy have already arrived. As soon as we walk into the packhouse, it’s mayhem.
“PIPER!” Kendra and Kaylee exclaim, racing toward me.
“UNCLE HENRY!” Quinlee and Quilla shout, racing to him.
We reach down, both of us scooping up a set of twins. I say hello to Kennedy who is holding little Harold, as the twins each kiss my cheeks.
“Can we spar with you tomorrow before you leave, Aunt Piper?”
“Of course! Plus, Uncle Henry needs to see if I’ve mastered his special move.”
“What special move?” they ask, turning to look at him.
“You’ll have to watch tomorrow and see,” he says, leaning over to give the twins in my arms kisses while I do the same with the twins in his arms. I set the girls down then kiss the top of Harold’s head before Kennedy pulls me into a hug.”Welcome,” I say, turning to Quirin and kissing the twins Quiana and Kyla that he’s holding.
“Thank you,” he says. “I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
“Not nearly as much as l am.”
The rest of the evening is filled with family, pack members welcoming me home, and a lot of laughter. It’s a wonderful night and I’m reminded why this is the path I’m choosing over being an elite fighter. I do hope that I can be part of a back-up crew for the elite squads, but honestly, even if I’m not, creating a life here with Henry will be just as fulfilling.
When we go to bed, I make sure he knows how much I love him. In the morning, Fallon insists that we rub ourselves all over him, making him laugh.
“Claiming your mate, Fallon?” he asks, watching as she rubs my face all over his stomach and chest.
“Yes. She will know that you’re mine from the moment we step out of the car,” she purrs.
When we go down for sparring, I see Quirin’s nose twitch, then he grins. “Gotta love an Alpha’s possessiveness.”
Since I spar hard all week, I take Kendra and Kaylee while Henry and Quirin run warrior training. I have the girls show me what they’ve been practicing, and I correct their form before I start teaching them some new moves.
They’re just starting to get them when Henry walks over. “Ready to try that move, Piper?”
